| I'm young and naturally very thin, so maybe this will change as I age and my body shape changes, but I do not want to be 'toned' in the sense that you can see muscle definition. My husband doesn't like that on women either. I guess I don't feel 'womanly' if I'm too toned. Anyone else? |
| In order to achieve what you want, you must have some underlying emotional issues that will drive you to insane amounts of chocolate and ice cream. I suggest having children. Your problems will be solved. |
op. I don't understand? I look exactly how I want to look. |
Doesn't mean you are healthy... |
| i'm not naturally thin -- not overweight, but i have to work at it -- and i've also had kids (i don't understand the PP's comments, but that's beside the point -- i think it's a troll anyway.) i also don't want that "rock hard" body. it's too masculine. my husband also doesn't like it. softly toned is nice. |
| Yes, you are in the minority. Be glad you and your husband have found each other. But, remember, when you get older, you may start drooping and sagging in ways that aren't pretty. |
| My DH thinks women have muscles and those with no visible tone look like little girls. So we are lucky to have each other and so are you too. |
| Not everyone is capable of getting defined muscles anyway. It's somewhat genetic. (and some folks will never have a low enough body fat for it.) "Toned" or "defined" doesn't have to mean "Madonna arms." As long as you're not skinny-fat - thin but unhealthy because you never exercise - you don't really need visible muscle definition. But don't use it as an excuse not to get exercise, or "no definition" could easily turn into "chunky" and then "obese" as you age. |
| Problem is, that without some muscle tone going into middle age, your skin ends up looking saggy and old. Its like pregnancy, if you go into it fit and exercise heavily before and during, you will emerge like Jessica Alba. No muscle tone is fine when you are young, but ages you tremendously when you get older. |
| I am naturally thin myself but I still exercise (running, yoga and cardio mainly) to get my heart rate up, and to just get my body moving, not to lose weight. I find that this tones my body enough to not look like I have huge muscles on a female body. It is ok to not like the overly toned look (I do not like it either), however, exercising is still important. |

My DH likes boobs on women. I have nice boobs, so it doesn't really matter if I have a sixpack or I'm just in shape.
P.S. I don't think my DH is terribly in the minority on this one, and being "cut" really makes it impossible to have nice breasts, sans obnoxious-looking implants. |
| Beware of being skinny fat... skinny isn't always healthy. That said diet and genetics play a big role. As long as you are happy and health6. Why did you post, to get validation? |
Back-door bragging. I'll bet she can't watch American Idol because there's a waterbug on her channel-changer. |
|
OP, do you come from a particular cultural background? Notions of beauty change over time and within cultures.
Just because the American vision of ideal beauty in this decade doesn't match your body type doesn't mean your type won't be "in" again in another decade. |
fat will never be in again |
