The question is why aren’t YOU angry at VDOT not doing their jobs?

NP and I am mad at VDOT and not FCPS. I went on VDOT website and filed a complaint. I hope you all do to....not that it will do anything, but oh well.

The ones who we should be complaining to are McKay and Youngkin. VDOT has failed them as well as us. If there were any funding or staffing or rules changes made at VDOT, then Younkin can see the result. Right now.

I remember being enraged when my kid was in kindergarten. He is now in high school. Some years we have more snow than others. This area is not well equipped for snow. It is what it is.

I remember being so upset when school closes when it was just cold, not even snow.

Somehow Loudoun County has its act together

I blame VDOT, but also…how is it the roads are too bad for school but seeming everything else is open?

This is 100% correct, here in McLean we are in third world territory in terms of getting service, roads are a complete sh$tshow.

It's still January. What if we get one or more storms of the same size this winter? 2 more weeks off?

Reid is not my favorite but this is not her....she can't plow neighborhoods you sound foolish

What annoys me is waiting so long to announce it!

6:30 annoys you....man you would like FCPS in 2003....it was the morning of very rarely an evening call.

Yeah, but it’s not 2003 and we don’t do it like that anymore. It seems like they already knew it was going to be closed but held on to that information for longer than necessary.

I feel like you are just annoyed at another snow day and are doing your freak out about anything at this point.

Regular Joe here. I don't care that you're a mom or a teacher. Let the kids have fun. It's not like DC is a snow town.

This cold isn't going to end in a while.
This winter reminds me of 2013-14 and 14-15. Big -AO/-NAO pattern helped the storm that we just got NOT to cut and after a few weeks of +TNH we should get an
-AO/-NAO reload. This may be the first BN temperature/AN snowfall winter in ten years.
TLDR: We might be in the first actual winter in 10 years.

Healthcare worker here. I don't have the liberty of just taking the day off to "let the kids have fun." VDOT has shown its pathetic nature

VDOT doesn’t shovel sidewalks or bus stops — that is on the community for not doing their part. Dig out the bus stops so kids don’t have to walk over a huge snow mound. Shovel your sidewalks. These are things we can control.

VDOT handles the roads, and they didn’t handle plowing well, not to mention salt/sand properly. They get plenty of blame, but we can’t control that, but we can complain about their lack of completing the job.

It's happened before....snowmageddon year. It was too much snow and snow days but we all survived and the children of those years still went to college so take a breath.

Lawyer here. If you're unhappy then sue VDOT.

If we got a lot of snow, we would all be a little more understanding. But this storm wasn't a boom. We got 5-7" of nice powdery snow in the county, which is more than 0" but really not a huge amount. And somehow the plwoing was abysmal. Even worse than might be expected.
