Top Chef's Padma

Anyone else disgusted by how much of a gold-digger she is?

She split with Michael Dell's brother, a billionaire. She refused to put Dell's name on the birth certificate of their child; she called him uninteresting and unambitious to the press, repeatedly.

Worst part -- she left him for another super-billionaire, a man over 70 years old (nice trade up, eh?). And she tells her daughter that this old man is the father, not Dell.

Total trash.

Hard to watch Top Chef after I found that out.

Yeah, but she is so hot.

She really is winning at life.

I don't have a problem with her choosing men largely for their wealth; it's very likely men choose her largely because they find her beautiful.

It does disgust me that she won't let the child's father have an active role in the child's life. I also think it is cruel to the child's father that she gave their child a middle name that honors her new boyfriend.

Her boyfriend died yesterday at age 71.

"Model and actor Padma Lakshmi’s long-term boyfriend, the billionaire financier and philanthropist Theodore J. Forstmann (Teddy) died of brain cancer on Sunday. The couple were dating each other for several years."

She was previously married to Salman Rushdie...

It's weird that the news stories about his death call him her long-term boyfriend and say that they had been dating for several years. They only began dating in early 2010 or perhaps late 2009.

I wouldn't call a two-year relationship longterm.

I don't understand how/why this makes her a golddigger. Wouldn't a golddigger WANT the man's name on her child's birth certificate, in order to get money for child support? Wouldn't a gold digger talk in a smarmy way about the man in her life. And wouldn't a golddigger hand onto a man, instead of leaving him?

^ her new boyfriend was richer than the baby's father.

She probably didn't want him involved at all bc the now-dead boyfriend played father to her kid, so she had more than enough financial support from another man.

Is she in his will?

I would think that she has her own money. Mostly, she seems like a snob who thinks surrounding herself with interesting people makes her interesting as well. In reality she just seems like a bore. Model and foodie. Yay.

Yeah she probably has money of her own, but nowhere near billionaire money (like her recently-dead boyfriend had).

The fact she was married to Salman Rushdie and sleeps with old men is strange to me, it personally skeeves me out, but more power to her if she enjoys it. I am stumped in this day & age how a woman can decide to not put a child's father on the birth certificate and have the power to cut him from the child's life. Did she blow the judge?
