VYS Soccer - better or worse?

One of the issues that Vienna has to deal with is that there is a pretty big drop off between the red and black teams. With the larger clubs like arlington, the drop off is not as drastic because there are just more players in the system. If you put a black player on red, there's a noticeable drop in level. And that shows and the rest of the team notices and the performance is affected.

Other clubs may not have to pull up a player on a lower team as often because they have so much interest from outside the club so they can replace a player with one of equal ability from outside. Or the second teams are also quite strong and you don't see a drop off until the third team. You may see a slight athleticism drop off in the second team but the skill level is the same. Vienna just doesn't have that luxury to plug and Play players in that way, so it creates a domino effect if just one or two players leave the top team, it damages the team almost permanently. This is not the case at the bigger clubs.

In our experience for the bolded, it is because the 2nd team is also the bottom team. Talent drops when you have to scramble to form a 2nd team. And as mentioned before, unless you're on the top (red) team, also a drop in coaching.

that's true too. there is a significant level drop in coaching from red to black, which filters down to the players - players on black aren't developed to as high a level either.

For example, making this up here but let's say 2006 red needs an extra player or two. VYS would rather bump up a player from 2007 red than 2006 black because they know it harms the competitive level.

The top players on black get annoyed and leave, making Black even weaker. These players find a team somewhere that has players around the level of the bottom half of red and top half of black, which they are happy with.

Vienna does not offer that level - the gap between red and black is too significant to bridge which is their problem market segment.

VYS has two types of players who leave - top of red and top of black. You can see how this causes a problem because the top red players need to be replaced and VYS has to dip into mid-black players to do that. that creates a mess
(why did Brayden get pulled up to red and not Larlo? we're leaving for GFR)

(why do we have Brayden on my kid's team now, who has been on Black this whole time? social status conscious Vienna parent)

and there you have the C-F that is created when there aren't enough players in the system to form an intermediate level between the top team and the bottom team.

If VYS grew its size of player pool and territory by 50% it would be really stable and be able to do more with itself.

Merger with PAC? that's about the only option.

This has to be specific to the boys. Our 2010 girls are fielding 4 full teams and turned down many players (which I find sad) for the fall.

The older teams only have two teams. Younger have four.

Good for them. But they avoided SYC and BSC top teams in the Virginian.

Did the BSC first team play in the Virginian Tournament at U9? Not according to the website:

http://events.gotsport.com/events/results.aspx?EventID=80801&Gender=Boys&Age=9

Looks like SYC "avoided" BSC's top U9 team. Whatever.

Ha Ha. I thought someone might reply to mine as being equally worthless would be equally worthless. Thus the snowball effort of worthless posts. Who's going to add on? : )
