yeah, but all of the college coaches were at Towson. there were 9,348 college coaches at Towson yesterday. |
Next level 2020 made huge statement today by winning the mad lax fall Fest.
They destroyed VLC 2020 and beat a 3D team from California in the championship - the same 3D team that whooped up on mad lax capital in the early round. Looks like Next Level is providing a very good alternative for kids living in MD and DC. |
Congrats, lax dad. That VLC team was missing kids, as most teams are missing kids in the fall. Fall results are something people get too excited about either way. |
The game wasn't even close. nL was missing a few kids too for various reasons.
Either way it's a good sign of things to come. |
Never been to a club tournament where the losing team parents aren't quick to say this many players not here today. Excuses, excuses, excuses. Give Next Level their due if they won a tournament. If they beat the other teams soundly it is because they were better. Sets a standard for the other teams to shoot for. |
I think the first guy who responded noted that everyone is missing guy so that fall results are not meaningful. But the first guy is the real whack job. Are we really going to have dads running to the PCs to post on this forum every time their son wins a game? Really? Does this happen with soccer dads, too? |
Soccer is for metromales. Lax is like a drug which brings out the crazy. So who will be at flg next weekend? |
Is it the coaching? |
I didn't see the games but at the middle school ages, I think good coaching is the world. Getting kids to embrace being coached and learn how to play the right way, be in the right position, make the right pass, good overhand shooting technique. Sounds corny but some of the top 2016 and 2017 club teams I saw this weekend have kids who STILL can't play, or at least play the right way. Maybe NL is onto something. Get good results and hopefully those parents don't all go down the grass is greener route so that their better players just fill out other club teams. |
I did get to see one really impressive team, a JV team from Hill Academy. They had all 9th graders playing in the 2016/17 division. I actually felt embarrassed for the clubs they played against. Zip line passing and they just made a mockery of a division they played up to. |
The NL 2020 team is coached by the heights head coach Dave Mitchell and the landon offensive coordinator Michael Cooke. The boys looked sharp today and were fun to watch. I do hope NL can keep this team together and kids don't get picked off and recruited to other clubs. |
Why do you think the Next Level 2020 team is so much better this year. It's essentially the same group of boys - but they weren't so great the prior two years. How is their goalie? |
Go Next Level!! Send Cabell and his designs on MD back across the river. |
As a parent of a 2017 player on one of the top three clubs mentioned a lot on this board, I would say that if these NL kids are doing well and getting coached up well they should stay out. This past weekend it was pretty obvious to me watching 2017s that with rare exceptions these kids haven't gotten much if any better since 9th grade. It is pretty sad to see a team stocked with D1 recruits laboring in a tight game against some pretty bad non-hotbed club teams. With few exceptions the commit kids are blending in with the non recruits playing to get noticed. I think one problem is my son's club team doesn't practice a lot together, but that is also just an excuse. |
Should stay put. Spell check error. The kids should stay at NL |
