This is correct. If they are leaving, they are quitting GFR mid-season. |
Color me skeptical. They are free to take a different contract in the fall of course, I think, but then people will have coaching slates and can make informed choices. |
Correct but the uncertainty about the Spring is what is confusing. And if we leave and follow her for the Spring and this club is a bust what do we do then? I guess GFR wouldn't fault us as parents/families and would allow us back but then what's the point of even leaving? UGH |
We are older and not in this situation but if my DD were on one of these teams, I’d reach out to the TD or new ED and ask if they had confirmed coaching for the spring and if anyone is leaving who would be coaching the team. If we’re just talking about fall, I’d try out for both, look at who’s on offer to coach at GFR next year, and make a decision. FWIW, we’ve been very happy with the coaches that came over from DMV and expect they’d look to fill in with more info that veins. Possession style and technical development focus over winning at all costs at u-little ages. |
We're way older too, and I've seen this whole thing play out before on both the boys and girls side. The coach is never as good as you think. And they normally get a per player kickback to bring your kid over. They love the money, not your kid. Also, assuming your kid is a DD, if she is a U10, there is no reason to leave as you'll be with the ex-DMV guys in the fall anyway and FA and AG are not 9v9 coaches by any stretch. The transition from the U9-U10 GFR coaches, who are certainly good in some things, to the former DMV coaches will blow your mind. |
| I honestly just don’t even understand how anyone considers moving to a club that doesn’t have fields reserved yet. We are one of the age groups being targeted but I have older kids and know how important stability is. Everything that GFR went through the past year or so was because of the guys who started this new club. GFR is finally back on track and now people wanna leave and follow those guys to a brand new club with no leak or fields? I just don’t get it. |
League not leak lol sorry - frustrating day |
If it's your oldest kid playing U9 and you love FA (not abnormal) you will do anything she says and trust her. If you are older and know the ropes you know how this plays out. |
Yeah, she is not our coach. But our team is being targeted anyway because it’s the same age group. this just feels so dirty. |
That's because it is dirty! Clubs get ban-hammers from leagues for this kind of thing. If GFR has written communications in hand who-boy. |
That wasn’t me and wasn’t about this situation but nice try, I guess? |

Dear GFR Families, We have recently become aware of targeted outreach directed at several of our youngest travel teams by a competing organization. This solicitation has included various claims about our club and coaching staff, and we would like to provide you with the facts to ensure you have an accurate picture of the upcoming season. First, this type of solicitation is unethical, unprofessional, and contrary to the spirit of our governing leagues. We are disappointed at the ongoing continued targeting of GFR. We have notified the appropriate league officials and governing bodies to ensure these matters are handled through the proper channels. Behavior of this nature creates unnecessary distractions and is exactly the kind of "drama" that detracts from the youth sports experience. Regarding the upcoming Spring season: Coaching Stability: No coaches have been dismissed. All coaches currently assigned to their teams are scheduled to lead them through the spring season. Personnel Policy: As a professional organization, GFR does not discuss confidential employment or personnel matters. However, should any coaching changes occur for any reason, GFR is committed to a swift, professional transition to ensure minimal disruption to our players. Next steps for families: If you have felt external pressure to sign new agreements or commitments, please be aware that you are under no obligation to do so. GFR remains fully prepared for the spring season. Our priority is—and will remain—providing your children with a positive, competitive environment. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have further questions. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to a great spring season.
