I am sorry for you, about your station in life. But we did not put you there. You did not get what you wanted along the way, probably several times. That is not on us. You value your one or two talents, so be it. Use them to lift your own status; use them for good; not for criticizing others writing or views. (I realize I am not the best writer, but I know I am smart and I know I get paid well for my brains.) You are boring, you are tiresome. No one wants another example of how you feel shortchanged. Look around. You do not have many friends because you are toxic. Stop, just stop. I am not returning to this post because frankly, I am tired of you. I welcome anyone else to chime in about the snarky ones. There are one or two posters that simply make DCUM undesirable. Their usual deflections and usual playground responses "maybe its you" just do not fit into adult real life. Grow up, snarky ones. This is not high school. Is that where your problems started? A rhetorical question of course. Please, get the help you need and stop trying to make everything about what you didn't get. You are telling the world your problems without even realizing it. Look at your children, I would bet they need more positive attention from you too! You are gettting a lifetime of valuable information here for free. Use it wisely. Decide to change. Good luck.

I'm sorry but this reminded me of Stuart Smalley's mantra "I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me!" Keep on truckin' OP!

I can deal with the snark. It's the people with rage problems who need to hate on something--posters who are beyond OP's "mind your manners" and need serious psychological help. The Alexandria Academy stalker. The self-identified-jew-who-hates-catholics. The DCUMMIE poster.
You get the notion that if these posters couldn't vent their bile on DCUM, they'd be beating their kids instead. Maybe they are beating their kids already. My point is, these people aren't just snarky, they are seriously disturbing. |
| Thank you for this OP. It's really unfortunate that DCUM is ruined by trolls who add nothing of value to what could be so many great conversations. I know I personally have to steel (no pun intended Jeff!) myself to read threads to which I could offer insights but I just don't always have the mental energy to read past the negativity and chime in. It's sad and draining and demoralizing for parents to talk to other parents in their community this way. |
| I like the snark. I don't think this site would be 1/2 as successful without the trainwreck of it. |
| Isn't this post snarky in itself? |
| OP, your attempt at armchair psychology tells us as much about you as you purport to know about "the snarky ones." Gimme a break. There are certainly more than one or two snarky posters. I agree that there is no cause for posting brutal and verbally abusive responses, but the occasional zinger here and there is what makes DCUM fun. One can't help responding to inanity with snark (at least I can't). |
| whatever |
| I don't mind the snark. In fact I sort of enjoy doling snark out, but generally I make it a rule to be snarky only when somebody was snarky to me first. I do wish we could get rid of the disturbing psychos, though. |

And she strikes again....
http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/196439.page http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/194064.page Full disclosure: I might be wrong but I have a feeling it's all the same troll. |
| Also, *maybe* this OP, too: http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/197529.page |
| 14:51 and 14:52, I think you may be a little overconfident in your telepathic powers. I don't see a lot of similiarities between them and OP. |
ITA. 14:51 and :52... you're reaching. Really far. |
| Dear Snark Posters, thank you for helping to mold part of the culture of DCUM. You may not be all of it, but you are a big part of it. You are the reason people return day after day. You are the reason this site makes money through Google advertising. You are the ones that don't actually shoot people on the Beltway, kick old people on the Metro and spit on people in the Whole Foods checkout line. You have an outlet. DCUM. Welcome and long live The Snark! |
This is a little too much irony for a sunny Sunday. |
