This weekend I asked my husband to order me a "no whip nonfat pumpkin spice latte" from Starbucks while I ducked into the bathroom. He got confused and ordered a pumpkin spice chai latte. So they gave me a nonfat chai with pumpkin flavoring/syrup and it was delicious! Typically they do four pumps which I find a bit strong so today I ordered a chai with just two pumps of pumpkin (less sugar too). Freaking Divine.
Anyone else have a favorite custom drink I should try? |
| Coffee. Black. |
|
21:14: Hee hee!!!!
Grande Redeye. (three shots of espresso in coffee.) Booyah!!!! |
| Water. Lemon. |
Fun! But seriously, I loathe Starbucks coffee. I only like their speciality drinks. Their plain coffee tastes bitter and burnt to me. If I'm doing straight coffee it's either from my Keurig or I love a good cup from Dunkin' Donuts (but don't get their as often). |
I hope you are slicing your own lemon. Did you ever see that 20/20 on how contaminated cut lemon from restaurants are? Shudder. Never, ever again do I use the lemon slice they serve in water. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/23355862/ns/today-today_health/t/stop-poop-your-lemon/#.TqYOjBy9_58 |

so, the girl at my starbucks last winter convinced me to do a one pump white choclate and one pump pumpkin spice skim latte and it was pretty awesome.
it became my new favorite drink... haven't tried it this season, though... |
That was my favorite drink last year. My barista whipped it up for me. |
| Do you think, or maybe when do you think, the Starbucks love affair will end? Or is it here to stay like McDonalds? |
Ditto! Except I always get an Americano so I know the coffee is fresh and hot and full of antioxidants. |
I think it's here to stay. I am a major anti-corporate lefty who actively scorns them and I still go there at least twice a week because I'm sleep-deprived and it's easy. |
I'm going to try this! Maybe tomorrow. Thanks! |
| My only off-menu order is a cold latte. Shots. Cold skim milk. No ice. Paper cup, not plastic. This is the summer variation on my usual skim latte. I order boring drinks. |
But the idea came straight from Italy. Have you read the history of Starbucks? Before Starbucks was *Starbucks* and before Howard Schultz ran the joint, he went to Italy looking for new ideas to bring back to the small Seattle coffee roasters. He came back thrilled with the idea of the Italian coffee cafes and the espresso drink. After lots of other stuff happened that small Seattle coffee roaster became what it is today, Starbucks. The idea of the "coffee shop" isn't so crazy, it's been around for ages all around Europe & South America. If you don't like the corporate-ness of Starbucks then support your local coffee roaster & local specialty coffee shops. There are plenty all over DC, Fairfax, & Moco. |
Whoa. You realize you've ruined my love of iced tea with lemon when we eat out?! I thought I was doing better to not drink a Diet Coke . . . Seriously, I'm glad for the information. Guess I'll go back to having a cup of coffee with dinner, whether the temperature outside is hot or not!
