But the idea came straight from Italy. Have you read the history of Starbucks? Before Starbucks was *Starbucks* and before Howard Schultz ran the joint, he went to Italy looking for new ideas to bring back to the small Seattle coffee roasters. He came back thrilled with the idea of the Italian coffee cafes and the espresso drink. After lots of other stuff happened that small Seattle coffee roaster became what it is today, Starbucks. The idea of the "coffee shop" isn't so crazy, it's been around for ages all around Europe & South America. If you don't like the corporate-ness of Starbucks then support your local coffee roaster & local specialty coffee shops. There are plenty all over DC, Fairfax, & Moco. [/quote]
