Maybe for a moment some were uncomfortable. But many families of all political parties in this country are raising kids that are neurodivergent. Gus may have secured some votes from 18+ neurodivergent voters and their families.

I have neurodivergence in my family and saw a lot of positive social media about Gus and his wonderful, emotional reaction to his dad's big moment. I also appreciate that while Gus is neurodivergent plus has anxiety and a non-verbal learning disorder and ADHD, he's not hidden. he's openly enjoying himself and being unapologetically himself and loved and celebrated by his family.

I think a lot of families (like mine) can see their family members represented in Gus.

Well said.

My whole twitter feed this morning was people saying how much they loved that moment - how much they love Gus, and how much they love that Gus was free to express himself with so much love and vulnerability. I don't have special needs kids - or any kids - and it had me bawling like an idiot when I saw the clip this morning.

I'm sure Republicans will be cruel. It's their way. But my sense is that the overwhelming reaction is love.

Vance botched the supply. He couldn't defend himself other than saying his remark was sarcastic and Buttigieg should be more offended by the job he has done as Transportation Secretary. Like what? Why can't Vance just be a human? Why does he have to keep that smug expression on while he refuses to apologize. Just say "I'm sorry. That comment was tongue in cheek and I hate that I offended so many people."

But he opens his mouth, puts on a smarmy expression and just makes everything worse.

He is a dolt. There is no there there. A ghostwritten book and being backdoored into Yale doesn’t make you smart. He’s a midwit political prostitute.

He seems to have no charisma and little if any emotional intelligence. I find Vance even less relatable then Trump — even though we probably have only 2 or 3 degrees of separation. He carried himself as though he thinks he’s the smartest person in the room — when it’s apparent to most that he’s not. He’s arrogant, mean spirited and offensive. I know several people who are considering getting cats thanks to his comments, so there’s that.

That is exactly it! He acts like he's the only one who's ever read a book. Guess what dude - lots of us here have read books (and even written them).

I agree, have seen nothing but love for Gus all over the internet this morning!

The main problem last night was Clinton went off script and for about 30 minutes too long. On the other hand, that was probably his last major public speech, so he milked it.

I thought Pete and Walz were fine/good.

With Biden, the Clintons and Pelosi, we are seeing a true transition to Harris, Pete, Jeffries etc. I agree that last night didn't have the same juju as the first two nights, but I expect tonight to end strong.

Jeffries is a terrible public speaker. I have no idea how he made it this far in politics. Literally, the worst political speech I have ever seen. Even Marjorie Taylor gives better speeches than him.

Most memoirs are ghost written. About 80K to the writer. Half up front. Also if you don’t “kill the dog” no one buys the book. Many of the deets are inflated and dramatized. D’uh.

I don't think his was ghostwritten. He was a nobody when he wrote that book - he only became a somebody because of the book. People who have existing platforms get ghost writers - but other people write their book to build their platform. I think he's the latter. I'm sure if he writes another book he'll have help - that first one, though? I'd be surprised.

We all know Trump can’t write and, if he could, would be too lazy to do so.

Is this TV speaker fact checking Trump? Trump said he did not know who was behind Project 2025 yet flew on a plane with the leader of the Heritage Foundation.

He also didn’t know he had tons of files stored in a Mara Lago bathroom. Seems on brand.

A lot of us have changed our priorities post COVID.

+1. Most Americans, even democrats, are not feeling joyful. Get back to the pocketbook issues Dems. Annointing Kamala as queen of joy is not a good look. Obama’s hope-change was more relevant.

Pete was incredible and showed a great speaker doesn’t need a lot of time to make their point. I hope this is the last of Oprah and Bill getting 30 min to drone on and on.

why isn't the fat dude from PA speaking?

I would vote for her only if the fat senator from PA speak. He is the only dude I like.

How the GOP has gotten away with the claim they are better for the economy is beyond me.

Because that’s all they ever talk about. But Democrats are look beyond jobs. I thought Pete’s story of how his family is only possible through politics. The Right likes to call that Identity politics. But it’s just giving families like Petes a chance to fully participate in the American experiment.
