That’s pretty crazy.

So their plan is to have people park at DCA lots and take the metro and no one from Monumental though to, you know, talk to DCA about it?

Maybe this is all just a ruse to get DC to pay more to keep the teams. They didn't talk to Metro either.

I had to look up who this is since I am not a VA resident. No idea how the rest of her policies skew but her commentary on this one is absolutely gold.

Can we get Louise Lucas to run for President or, failing that, take over from Bowser as the mayor of DC? What a hero.

She should run for the US House.

lol Republicans have no leg to stand on when you criticize a Democrat over “civility”

One word:
T-R-U-M-P

+1

I think it's hilarious every time they talk about "civility" or "decorum".

She’s 80. She should run for president.

I've predicted from the beginning that all of this was a ploy drunkenly cooked up by Youngkin at the 18th hole clubhouse to help his buddy shake out more money from the DC government coffers.

That's the death knell there. It's done.

It's definitely not done. I hate the plan, live in D.C., don't want to see them leave, etc., but it's absurd to just count out a move backed by the team owner and the governor of the state. If I had to bet on it, I'd bet this still goes ahead in some form.

The governor has shown a total disinclination to compromise on anything. There is a reason that he has zero legislative accomplishments. He could have offered toll relief in Hampton Roads as part of the package and it would have sailed through, but he can't fathom that he doesn't have the ability to just bully things through.

He has never been to Hampton Roads and has no idea the impact of the tolls, so why would be bother?

because the state senator who can singlehandedly kill this bill cares a lot about those tolls.

If this falls through Leonsis loses a lot of leverage with DC. I think any offer he gets from DC from here on out will be less generous than the one he turned down

Not only that, but he is flushing his fan bases down the toilet.

Wonder if the play is to get Bowser to turn over the RFK site to Monumental. I don't disagree with him that it makes a ton of sense to consolidate practice and game venues in one location and I would think the RFK site could accommodate.

Also, it doesn't make much sense to spend tons of $$$s on the Commanders when that is only 8-9 home games a year (plus playoffs...but that never seems to happen ).

Isn't there some sort of land ownership issue with RFK? Something to do with federal park land.

She cannot control when that site would become available, same with the FBI site or Poplar Point - all federal parcels that could be turned over to DC for future use. Frankly, the best option would be to retain CapitalOne and gain first right of refusal on the FBI site should it ever become available, and facilitate Leonsis to develop the rest of the "complex" there, as it is only a couple of short blocks away.

And I am confident that there are other buildings near Capital One that Ted could take control of, with some planning.
