Gaza War, Part 3

Israeli ground forces have damaged or destroyed at least six cemeteries during their advance into the northern Gaza Strip, most of them in recent weeks, according to an analysis of new satellite imagery and video footage by The New York Times.

In Gaza City’s Shajaiye neighborhood, where heavy combat raged in recent days, Israeli forces razed part of the Tunisian cemetery to set up a temporary military position. A satellite image from Sunday shows armored vehicles and earthen fortifications on what were intact graves days earlier.

The Israeli military did not respond to questions by The Times about its reason for razing the cemetery and whether it has taken any precautions to protect religious sites in Gaza. The laws of armed conflict consider the intentional destruction of religious sites without military necessity a possible war crime.

Azerbaijan is doing it in Artsakh as we speak, which it cleansed from Armenians using Israeli weapons.

Um... you really want to talk about "war crimes" here? Seriously? After Oct. 7th? Truly unbelievable.

If the IDF hurt one of my children, I regret to say that I'd probably do more than support Hamas. After the IDF has killed and mutilated, displaced, and starved so many Palestinians, I'm surprised that number is as low as 72%.

Yes. This. Israel’s outsized response is only servicing to make Jews less safe worldwide. If you think IDF’s response has been justified based on 1200 deaths and 250 kidnapped victims, just imagine what the Palestinians want to do to Israelis for 20x that amount of suffering.

Wow. What both of you numbskulls conveniently ignore is the FACT that Hamas brutally mutilated, tortured, raped, and murdered, children and other innocent civilians FIRST. Why is it so easy for you to totally twist this narrative? Do you know how insane you sound?

It is a mistake to try to assign a “first” in this conflict. You are correct that Hamas carried out a brutal attack on October 7th, but they didn’t spring into existence on October 6th.

https://prospect.org/world/2023-10-20-west-bank-settlements-conflict-gaza/

A very interesting article written by an Israeli author.

That's behind a firewall. At any rate, regardless of Jewish settlements, etc. - Israelis have NOT tortured and raped Palestinian women and children. Hamas are monsters. I hope they're eradicated from the face of the earth.

Just a reminder this is the statement categorically denying Israelis have tortured and raped Palestinian women which is precisely what the Israeli justice system says has taken place.

They’ve raped more Palestinian men than the women because they know men don’t ever speak out about such things

Cool story bro. Make wild accusations with no proof, and then give yourself fake cover by saying "you won't hear about it because it's suppressed / people are being bought off / they won't talk to it because of cultural issues" etc.

Here is a report about a 15 year old boy who was raped and was subjected to torture in the genitalia in 2021 by Israeli forces.

This incident has been mentioned in interviews by Josh Paul, who resigned from the US state department earlier this year.

https://www.dci-palestine.org/israeli_interrogator_sexually_assaults_palestinian_child_detainee

Again for individual reports vs. mass rape event. This is equivalent to when Jeff said about Shani Louk “she had her underwear on”

Ok then say “Israel doesn’t carry out mass rape” and not “Israelis do NOT rape Palestinians”.

Don’t make verifiably false statements and then get defensive when someone tells you they’re false. And really if I were in your shoes I’d take a beat on making either of those claims because we don’t know the full scale of what’s happening right now, and you may find yourself re-defining your parameters for behavior yet again.

You are saying that possibly, Israeli soldiers are mass raping Palestinian women, cutting off breasts, and desecrating the bodies, ie parading their corpses through the streets of Tel Aviv while civilian Israelis are spitting on their dead flesh?

No? I am saying it’s possible there is a larger sexual violence issue with the IDF that we don’t yet know about (due to gag orders and also the lack of reporting from Gaza right now) and so I would continue to advise everyone not to make blanket statements about their behavior which are either verifiably false or have the potential to be proven false later. Stick with what is verifiably true.

The IDF are heroes, and if we had a reasonable leadership in this country people like you blatantly slandering such heroes would be arrested and tried for your crimes.

You believe that it should be a crime in the United States to post verified facts— published by the governments in question— about the conduct of foreign militaries?

They are NOT verified. They were part of a biased opinion piece as shown by the fact that the website has the word ‘Palestine’ in its url.

Posting verifiable facts is not a crime, but terrorizing Jewish people by slandering the IDF is and should be a crime.

The IDF Spokesperson doesn’t count as verified?

https://m.jpost.com/breaking-news/idf-officer-convicted-of-raping-palestinian-woman-harassment-report-682571

And again, to be clear, you believe it should be a crime in the United States to post criticism of the IDF if the word “Palestine” appears in the URL? I would like to hear more about what laws you would like American citizens to follow regarding discussion of the conduct of foreign militaries.

The delicious irony of calling a source biased because it has the word “Palestine” in it and demanding proof from the Times of ISRAEL or JERUSALEM Post instead.

In the case of the IDF soldier we only know about it because a gag order was lifted in 2021. It’s not unreasonable to assume more gag orders exist. It’s also reasonable to assume that rape is as underreported elsewhere in the world as it is in the United States.

Which should just remind people: it is foolish to make blanket statements about the behavior of participants in this conflict in an effort to “win” a moral high ground which neither side is working hard to achieve.

When you find me a story of IFF raping and passing multiple Arab women around, cutting off their breasts, shooting them while raping them, we will talk about the moral high ground. Until then, you got nothing .

So you’re good with rape, just not all rape.

Thats fine but own your position.

DP. I see you're still using your one example of sexual coercion in exchange for a work permit as... somehow comparable to everything the PP listed. You clearly need your head examined. Just disgusting.

Still isn’t “one”, still isn’t “coercion” (if you read the article you’d know all of this) and I still haven’t once said the word “comparable”.

Of course you think it's comparable. Why else would you continue your completely idiotic line of thinking, with countless posts about the same thing? It's actually begun to be quite funny, your insistence that your one (yes, one) example somehow makes things even. What happened to Israeli women, men, and children on Oct. 7th will never, ever be forgotten. Perhaps Hamas should have thought that through beforehand.

Because you are trying to bury the fact that the post all of these were in response to was the (incorrect) assertion that Israelis do not rape Palestinian women. That is verifiably wrong. So maybe it’s time to acknowledge that fact if you’re tired of being reminded over and over.

Or, you know, continue the campaign to make it a crime to discuss IDF conduct as reported by the IDF. You do you.

This country? The U.S.? The U.S. should prosecute its citizens for pointing at the IDF “heroes”?

They are also razing cemeteries in Gaza.

You do that to a people when you want to erase their memory, their culture, their civilization.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/14/world/middleeast/gaza-cemeteries-damage-israel.html

Hey, genius, both Hamas and the IDF can commit war crimes. One side committing war crimes does not mean that the other side is magically incapable of committing them as well.

So on the one hand, we've got horrific rapes, mutilation, kidnapping, and murder... and on the other hand we've got a razed cemetery. Okey doke. Genius.

And twenty thousand dead! Don’t forget. Plus untold damage to the land.

Not the land! Gasp!!

You don’t get to subjugate people for over 70 years, regularly kill their youths, deny their basic human rights, and then feign surprise when they periodically respond in a barbaric manner.

The world sees what Israel has done with American support, and the global revulsion towards Israel grows every day. It will also isolate the U.S. on the global stage and strengthen the hands of China and Russia.

Unless Israel turns a new leaf very soon, we should cease providing them with any support. Let the Jews and the Palestinians fight it out on a level playing field and not one in which Israel knows it can get away with any type of killing and repression and still avoid sanctions due to American support and intervention.

I am beyond disgusted my tax dollars go to support this filthy, depraved Zionist killing machine.

Don’t forget 90% of people displaced… yes, read that again: 90%! Also don’t forget that it will be decades to rebuild Gaza. Israel’s dropped more large bombs than the us did in Iraq and Afghanistan combined. This kind of civilian destruction hasn’t happened since Vietnam.

No, I am not good with rape. Rape is present and is inevitable in every society. But the type of rape we saw in October 7, is not present in every society. Don’t try to even attempt to equate isolated incidents with a mass rape event that was so barbaric in nature, humanity has not seen this before. And the fact that you don’t see this, speaks volumes of who you are.

Actually Bosnia, Rwanda.. rape has been used as a tool of war and factually those rapes were worse and more systemic used than on 10/7 but regardless- the Hamas attack was completely depraved as is the holding children/elderly hostage. The terrorist attack on 10/7 was barbaric , and what the IDF is doing puts Israel in danger permanently, its ethnic cleanisng and that never ends well for the perpetuators unless you are Germans, than you just feel guilty and build monuments and get away with the worst systematic murders in history.
