...good try trolling me, but you don't even know what mincemeat is. |
DP here you shouldn't let anything go to waste. |
https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/22621/old-time-mincemeat-pie/. It’s beefy and delicious |
Congratulations. You found the worst recipe for mincemeat that exists. It used to be made with suet, but these days is usually made with vegetable shortening. Mincemeat using steak hasn't ever been a thing. You've found the beef trifle of mincemeat. |
| The the vegetarian or vegan whacko, you are not doing yourself any favors here. You are the type of person that galvanizes people against whatever you are lobbying for. If you want any chance of schools considering vegetarian menus (which they won't because you are such an insignificant minority in this country), you should quit while you're ahead. The more your talk, the fewer people want to do whatever you argue for. You're a liability to your own cause. |

+1 PREACH! This “meat is bad” nonsense going around these days reminds me of the older, and also mistaken, ideas that eggs were bad for cholesterol and fat was evil. There are some perfectly valid questions to be asked about the state of CAFO’s and other large-scale commercial animal production setups, but that does not equal “meat is bad.” It’s literally why we possess larger brains. |

Because the school lunch program is run by USDA. Part of USDA’s mission is to ensure a safe and stable national supply of food, fiber (wool, cotton) and fuel (corn ethanol).
The school lunch program and foreign food aid are part of a larger program to support the US supply chain and buy commodities at prices that don’t let farmers and ranchers go broke. Kids eating cheeseburgers is about the economy, not health. |
Also, they're delicious. And kids will eat them, not have a couple of bites and throw them away. |
SEE? EVIDFENCE that this is all about the money and not the kids or envuronment!!! |

This seems silly. Lunches have to be mass produced. They have to be cheap and appealing to a large percentage of children. They must be easy to serve and store, and they must be filling.
You are not getting a vegan lunch menu that meets the above. It'd be cost prohibitive and difficult to serve to the millions of kids in schools. The thing that gets me with parents complaining about lunch is - Why don't you just send in your own meals with your kids if you don't like the "free" lunch? I've sent my three kids with home packed lunch for the past 7 years. They've had school lunch about 5 times in the past 7 years. If you have issues with the lunch, you can always serve it yourself to meet your dietary needs and/or restrictions. Otherwise, you'll have to work within the parameters of the above. |
Right here. Meat is not bad. TOO MUCH meat is bad. Just like everything else, it's about moderation. The increase in homo sapien brains coincided directly with our species' transition to eating meat. You have the internet now because your ancestors ate meat. So thank a burger. |
It has beef suet in it. |
| Ever et raw meat |
