Most of the better teams in the region have been playing 11v11 for a year so we will have to catch up quickly.

No, 09s have not been playing 11v11 for a year.

Yes there are clubs that put 09s up an age group in tournaments and leagues so they can play 11v11 earlier.

A few clubs have played up. Other Clubs have done some 11v11 tournaments but 9v9 league play.

FCV best 09s have been playing up on the 08 team of course. It’s 09 team will be the worst 11v11 team they have fielded in a decade.

Loudoun added another quality player and will be tops in NoVa even with little 11v11 experience. VDA will be an interesting watch. Virginia Union will also field a good team. Arlington and Metro will be non-factors.

As for Maryland, it’s really only Pipeline and Bethesda with the edge going to Bethesda moving into the fall season. Armour might be right behind them. Celtic Union is going to struggle along with MD United.

They were playing up as 08s. This happens all over the country and most of the top teams have been playing 11v11 both for league and tournament play. Certain tournaments like Jeff Cup even create 11v11 brackets for those teams to play age appropriate on the big field.

Arlington 09 is pretty good I wouldn't underestimate them.

how do you think you know any of this when the parents on the team don't know anything? You're just talking out of your a**.

It is amazing how people spew baseless opinions and wishes as facts. Then someone else will take the bait and argue these non-facts. Maybe they are just looking for an argument for argument sake.

Agreed, a few changes of players here and there can make a big difference.

Go ahead and bookmark the page if you want to and we can re-visit in June 2022. (I will) It's just a prediction based on the info I have.

Seems Arlington parents are pretty confident going into next year. That's great but do any of you really think you are on the same level as Loudoun?

I firmly stick by my feelings about FCV. The only thing that could change that is if the play-ups come back on age and we all know that is not going to happen.

VDA is the only big question as to what kind of player pool they were able to get, I honestly don't know but they usually have strong teams moving into 11v11.

As for Maryland, Pipeline took the top Baltimore Union Players and the best Celtic players went to Baltimore Armour. So yes, Celtic Union GA is going to struggle. Baltimore Armour will be the top GA team in the DMV.

Metro will be middle of the pack, again, pending the current '09 play-ups. If those players do not play on age, Metro could very well be below FCV. Great Falls did not have a great season and I do not know how many are making the change to Metro or moving to other Clubs.

Prediction:
1. Loudoun ECNL
2. Bethesda ECNL
3. Virginia Union ECNL (McLean)
4. Pipeline ECNL
5. VDA ECNL
6. Baltimore Armour GA
7. Arlington ECNL
8. Coppermine Premier
9. VYS
10. PPA Green
11. MD United ECNL
12. Metro United GA
13. Loudoun Red
14. FC Virginia GA
15. Celtic Union GA

Feel free to post your own prediction.

Agreed with FCV (and we're an FCV family). The 2009 team got steamrolled during the Fall season playing top division for U12. Moved to U13, bottom division and it was hit or miss. Also played at the NCSL level and got owned by GF's B-team and WYSC's A team. FCV 09s lost two players during the Spring - one who went to GF and the other one who quit. Gained two players from LSC's 2009 black team. The current 2009 GA roster is concerning. Coaches have their work cut out for them.

Wouldn't it be nice if you took all these teams and just make a league out of it?

Sure would. Unfortunately when everyone saw AAU was making money, other youth sports followed. I miss the days when ODP and USYS was coveted.
