The article also says that he is personally on the hook for about 500M in loans in 2022. He can't afford to lend his campaign money. He doesn't have any.

I think that’s right. He did it to boost his brand. But why run again then?!

Because as a sitting President he’s directing federal government agencies, his campaign, the Republican Party, various PACs, and any other organization that wants to curry favor with him to spend money at his properties. And bringing in almost a billion as a candidate.

Didn’t everyone with functional neurons know this already?

You two have proof of this claim?

He claims he's donated all of it.

maybe this should be a spin off thread but if this is true and our tax code is structured so people in certain industries/businesses can live lavish lifestyles and have every comfort, luxury, access to the the best healthcare and education and only pay $750 in income tax and the rest of us pay much much more, is that not outrageous enough?? I mean, sure that is not the presidents fault the he is taking advantage of the tax code but the fact that it works this way needs to be addressed before anything else. It is massively unfair, if true- why are you not outraged by this? Forget freaking immigration reform, we need to reform the tax code!! Otherwise please explain how people in real estate pay their fair share of tax?? I am truly ignorant about how all this works.

trump could easily disprove it by releasing his tax returns.

So this is the game?

Already answered, he donates his salary so no taxes are due on it.

It's still income, and the SALT would still necessitate paying taxes on it.

It doesn't work the way The Donald does it. He's doing it wrong.

Donald J. Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency. In his first year in the White House, he paid another $750.

He had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years — largely because he reported losing much more money than he made.

As the president wages a re-election campaign that polls say he is in danger of losing, his finances are under stress, beset by losses and hundreds of millions of dollars in debt coming due that he has personally guaranteed. Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.

That’s going to be the biggest GoFundMe in history.

I will contribute one red cent.

Right, because that's how that works...

He just said he's not going to.

So what questions do you want Chris Wallace to ask Trump about his taxes during Tuesday's debate?

To stay out of prison.

I have. That's a lot of depreciation, but that isn't the only issue on his returns. He has huge debts. This is what I always thought. It just reinforces my belief that he is actually broke on paper, staying just one step ahead his creditors.

Leverage, like depreciation, is part and parcel of anyone who is in real estate. You may as well blame a hokey player for having skates and a stick.

Yeah, I get it. So why did he hide it? You and I both know there only two reasons, one of which has just been confirmed and the other is under investigation by the DA.

Because he knows that ignorant people like many people in this thread would not understand and become useful idiots to Democrats looking to vilify him.

Well, his plan to prevent that certainly worked out swimmingly.

Fake news. It's fake news.
I've got billions,
Many, many billions.
I'm, like, really rich. OK?

I can't show you my tax returns to prove it, though,
Because I'm under "audit."

Just so you understand.
