They predicted 2.2 million deaths in the beginning. People aren’t buying their BS models anymore.

There are at least 67k+ deaths now in the US over the last 3 months.

If we didn’t stay in place how many deaths do you think there would have been this year?

And that count isn’t even accurate. They’re adding people who haven’t even tested positive for COVID to that count. CDC revised the numbers to 36k deaths from COVID.

Where do you get your crappy news? The CDC didn’t “revise” numbers. That is just a different count - # of death certificates, which is a delayed statistic.

If anything we are undercounting. As of a week ago, the US had 66,000 more deaths than expected. With far fewer automobile deaths, gun deaths, etc.

The question still stands: How many deaths do you think we would have had this year if we didn’t shelter in place?

Umm it’s on the CDC website itself.

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/index.htm

Of course, the media won’t report this because they want you scared.

GMAFB. You don’t get your news from the CDC website. You heard this misinformation on FoxNews or similar. And you happily eat it up even if it’s not true.

Look at your link - it even says it’s not the current number of deaths because of the delayed reporting:
“It is important to note that it can take several weeks for death records to be submitted to National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), processed, coded, and tabulated. Therefore, the data shown on this page may be incomplete, and will likely not include all deaths that occurred during a given time period, especially for the more recent time periods.”

It’s not a “revised” number - it’s just a different metric.

Again, how many people do you think would have died this year if we didn’t shelter in place?

Also from CDC’s website:

In cases where a definite diagnosis of COVID–19 cannot be made, but it is suspected or likely (e.g., the circumstances are compelling within a reasonable degree of certainty), it is acceptable to report COVID–19 on a death certificate as “probable” or “presumed.” In these instances, certifiers should use their best clinical judgement in determining if a COVID–19 infection was likely. However, please note that testing for COVID–19 should be conducted whenever possible“

The numbers are inaccurate. Period.

If these diagnoses are being faked the hospitals will get slapped with MASSIVE FCA lawsuits. No way hospitals are lying about these.

Where have you been? Various doctors have come out and say it’s been happening the last 2 months. It’s mainly because of money.

Hospitals even get insurance money for this if it is a COVID death due to the CARE act. It was in USAToday before you call it a conspiracy

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/04/24/fact-check-medicare-hospitals-paid-more-covid-19-patients-coronavirus/3000638001/

Where have YOU been?

We are UNDERcounting.

That won’t change, even if you continue to ignore it.

As long as you promise that you and everyone you live with won’t seek out medical help if you get sick. Thanks!

No. Hospitals aren’t overwhelmed. They were never overwhelmed outside of NYC, and even there they weren’t turning people away from ventilators. Anyone can get medical treatment ... even those who go out when the governor opens stuff up.

Northam said that order would be revised if/when we enter Phase I.

this is incorrect. They were overwhelmed in Detroit and New Orleans as well. I work for the Dept of Veterans affairs and in both cities (as well as in Brooklyn) we opened our hospitals to non-veterans because private ICU beds were full.

Umm Anna frank literally had Nazi’s trying to kill her because of her race.

This is a slightly more severe version of a flu and you’re the one hyperventilating to go get your mail.

What are you, a Donald Trump impersonator? This is NOT "a slightly more severe version of a flu" wtf?

I'm not complaining. I love quarantine. I'm saving a ton of money, spending oodles of time with my kids, and still collecting a full salary while working from home (but with less work to do honestly).

Still, I see the writing on the wall. It's ending. By September we will be reopen, short many of our grandparents.

You can't be a real person. Who the heck talks about other people dying like that?

Because I have a clear-eyed view of risk and death? Is that so unusual? My grandmother died this weekend. Not sure, as of today, whether it was covid19 related, but I can still clearly see what our governments plan to do: they won't be insisting on lockdown until we find a vaccine, instead, they will allow for everyone to get exposed, but slowly. I can understand why, it's not practical to fully lock down for a couple years, even if I, personally, am fine in lockdown.

Those are the only two choices, lockdown until vaccine or allow for slow virus exposure, and it's pretty obvious which one we are doing.

But we could also allow folks out and about more with protections once we have done sufficient testing to show who has Covid and who doesn't, including testing of asymptomatic people, so that asymptomatic spreaders stay home also. But nobody is talking about doing that because noone can get organized enough to have sufficient tests for this, so I guess everyone who is at risk from this disease will just need to die because this government can't get it's ridiculous act together, yay.

She doesn't care about Detroit or Nola. She doesn't care that DMV hospitals are full-but-not-overrun because all elective and non-urgent procedures were postponed but soon will be overrun when elective procedures start again.

She just wants to pretend that the covid is just a cold.

I’m so ungodly weary of folks saying they want things to go back to normal. We all want that. But it’s now the past. Let the needed changes happen so we can all move forward. Pretending opening things up fixes all ills is delusional and harmful. It’s going to bite us.

Nothing is changing. That’s the issue. We sat home for 7 weeks like we were told and the government did very very little with that time. I don’t have faith another 7 weeks will be any different.

LOL, not only is nothing changing, it’s actually getting worse. Yet we’re reopening, which I totally support. But it just goes to show you that the last two months have been an idiotic waste of time!

I know, right? Reopening will fix everything.
