| It doesn’t. It relates to the more recent point about how important teachers are. Which is true and which is also why bad ones get fired. And may be bitter. |
Bad ones don’t get fired in FCPS. They are supported and given cover. |
The standards for student behavior at Bullis are much higher than the standard DCUM adults hold themselves to on this anonymous chat board. |
Bullis has plenty of money. The issue with the teacher pay was Head vs. Board budget negotiation. The brinksmanship spilled over and affected the staff in a move most now recognize as a mistake. But at its heart, the question was whether to insist on a $400,000 additional rainy day fund dollars at the expense of other priorities the Head supported. At the end of the day the Board and the Head reached an agreement that created the fund, didn't cost teachers, and preserved programmatic priorities. The Head is willing to push for what he believes in and that has enabled Bullis to change and innovate and grow dramatically over the past decade in terms of teaching and learning as well as athletics, facilities, and an incredible arts program. |
Bullis parents like me are bothered by the disconnect between the narrative perpetuated on this board and their experience with dedicated teachers, rigorous academics, a strong community, and excellent resources. We're responding to loud uninformed bias with our experience-based thoughts. What's wrong with that? |

Yes, I've looked at their tax filing which is public. Look at the balance sheet. Serious debt with little endowment. They wanted to actually cut teachers salaries. SHAME ON BULLIS. |
You are kidding yourself. Out of the earshot of teachers, the behavior of some Bullis students I've observed is quite similar to that of the frequent posting lax bro alumni who says "Kid probably couldn't make the team" above. |
| Let's not talk about bad student behavior being something unique to Bullis. Former St. Pats and current St. Albans parent here... the behavior at those two schools is deplorable. |
How do I access this? |
Guidestar is a good source for non profit 990 filings (and handy for checking out any charitable organization before you make a donation). I think it’s wise for anyone considering a private school to have a look. Catch is that religiously affiliated organizations are generally exempt. |
Agreed that teenage behavior isn't exactly known for it's awesomeness, but if you've ever sat near the Bullis parent section at a varsity football game, you might be as ashamed as I was to be a parent there. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. |
I think football is the common denominator here. That sport (and LAX) brings out the worst in parents. |
There's more than a little truth in that. My wife, who was initially opposed to our sons playing football, eventually allowed it because of their insistence and enthusiasm. At games, I would escape from the crowd of football moms and position myself at the top row the stands using the excuse that I could see the game better. |

Did Bullis re-instate it’s football coach, Cliento?
I read in the Post this morning, the domestic assault charges were dismissed. |
