Leaving Neverland new documentary on Michael Jackson

BUT

Anyone who watches this documentary AND has experienced sexual abuse as a child personally or has witnessed the process of grooming and seen the effects it has had on a loved one... it is undeniable that these two men are not lying. Their experiences, words, emotions, details, behavior, and journey are so parallel to what I’ve seen others I know experience. Including feeling differently and realizing what happened what was wrong when they had their own children. There isn’t always going to be evidence. Some people will have repressed memories that resurface and some people will want to tell when they are ready. I would have definitely not told anyone til Michael was dead, because even now Wade’s family is receiving death threats. The man was too powerful.

And it breaks my heart and makes me so sick because I truly love Michael Jackson. I plastered my walls with him, almost got tattoo of him when he died. I defended him when during his 2005 allegations. But after watching this documentary as a fan with a completely open mind, I believe them. And I have so much sympathy for them, because Michael truly ruined their lives. If you do not have ANY experience or educated knowledge about sexual childhood abuse you will not understand why these men acted the way they did, why they lied, why they protected Michael, and why they are coming forward now. I see evidence of Stockholm syndrome.

My heart really hurt watching people not believe the first boys who came forward many years ago rewatching those trials as an adult because I see through a different lens. I cannot imagine going up against one of the world’s biggest pop stars as a child and then having people say you’re lying. It’s already hard for any victim to speak up, imagine someone who has this star power.

If you separate the beloved entertainer from a regular man, it is clear to me what went on it. And it is a damn shame.

+1000 I just finished watching Leaving Neberland and After Neverland. Devastated for both these men.

I told nobody until I was 19, and when I did, I downplayed it and denied it was abuse. It wasn't until I got therapy when I was in my 30s that I finally was able to even use the word 'abuse' without getting ill to my stomach and having a panic attack. I couldn't have even typed this anonymously in my 20s, let alone have an interview about it. I would have denied it too.

And imagine how it would be when the molester is one of the most beloved figure in the music industry.

I am PP who wrote about abuse. I would not have had the courage to do a documentary like this to this day. I might still be denying it, if my abuser was MJ.

Latoya was the only one to come clean about that, right? Michael said his dad was vicious, however, but didn't give specifics.

She was also the only family member who admitted Michael molested boys. She is the outcast of the family but she speaks truth.

The black sheep (LaToya, in this case) is often the black sheep because they speak the truth.

I haven't seen this and I will at some point I just need to steel my mind first.

I believe it. I wish it wasn't true but I believe it.

Latoya isn't on the outs with the family these days and hasn't been for a long time.

I also believe MJ was molested -- not necessarily by Joe, the entertainment world is a weird disgusting place, look at how Marvin Gaye and Anna Gordy's son got here (Berry Gordy's sister) -- and that all the Jacksons kids were abused by Joe.

I saw the “after neverland” piece after watching the documentary. A point that stood out was that sexual abuse, especially in children, won’t always present itself as abuse to the child. Oprah brought up a good point that isexual abuse is a seduction and manipulation of the child and the family as well. It’s so confusing to a child when somebody they trust and love and idolize make them feel loved, safe, and secure and they take advantage of that to a disgusting degree.

For some to say “how can that person still love that person?” Or “why didn’t they speak up?” “If they were being abused how can they protect that person”. It’s because a child won’t always understand when someone is preying on them. The predator builds up this relationship with the child, it’s not always going to leave the child feeling abused. Predators are master manipulators. Another takeaway is there is no realm of normalcy with sexual abuse. From the methodical way a predator will gain trust, to how the survivor can make sense of the abuse and relationship they thought they had. There is no making sense of sexual abuse and the aftermath. With many traumas people survive, the

Are you guys delusional?

This man was acquitted of all charges of child molestation in 2005. It was a media circus along with the media monitoring him for 10 years. They found 0 evidence of wrong doing. Allegations of this nature have been brought to court and he was found not guilty.

What new evidence is there?

Put away the pitch forks.

There was not enough evidence to convict him. That’s a far cry from “0 evidence of wrongdoing.”

Watch the documentary and maybe you’ll stop being so delusional. And don’t forget that Jackson paid off a bunch of accusers as well.

Didn't they find an R Kelly video? more proof

I haven't watched the documentary, but I do agree with someone upthread who discussed that this behavior become "normal" for these boys. So I can see how they wouldn't question it.

very confusing for children

For the PP who wanted to know how to watch,

I signed up for a free week trial of HBO thru amazon prime. I was able to watch it that way.

It is a disturbing and sad documentary. I was also sexually abused as a child by a male babysitter. I didn’t tell my parents until college. Between this one, the R Kelly documentary, and the Abducted in Plain Sight film on Netflix, the grooming and abuse is pure evil.
