Seems many of the people who do not want it closed seem to take it personally, like PP. |
I'm 17:59. Do you always behave like this when people disagree with you? You sound like a real jerk. |
Are you taking it personally? |
| Next meeting on the ramp closure is Sept. 13 at McLean High School - 7:00pm. If you feel strongly about closing the ramp, get to that meeting. Posting here does no good. And send your opinion to VDOT too at: meetingcomments@VDOT.virginia.gov — include McLean Area Traffic Analysis in the subject line. |
| How was the traffic this morning? My DC took bus today but tomorrow I have to drive . . . |
Op here. Pleasantly surprised that traffic was very light. I ended up going a different route - Old Dominion to Balls Hill. I was meeting someone in Arlington afterwards and I was able to come home after drop off, get on 495 with no traffic and then 66 also had no traffic. It seemed too good to be true. I was 30 minutes early meeting my friend. I did see some traffic on Georgetown pike towards tysons but it was the opposite direction. |
| Mornings generally aren't the problem. Give it a go this afternoon. We live four miles from Langley off of Georgetown Pike. Bus came at 7:28 and arrived to LHS at 8:11. Not bad considering it's the first day and people are getting used to the school traffic again. |
assuming you live in the general area or in VA can you explain why it would be inconvenient for you if they closed the ramp from 1-7pm weekdays? Do you go into MD everyday in that timeframe? Or are you thinking it will make other neighborhood/school areas backed up with traffic? I’m trying to figure out the good verses bad. |
Most NOT in favor are traveling *from VA to MD at the evening rush hour*, which happens to be about 3:30 to 7. Some evenings are gridlocked, and there is clearly one cause, so if the cause is stopped, the traffic is dispersed elsewhere (not just one place). The Marylanders take offense because they think only the rich people object to the traffic, and want the closure, which is not the case. It is the same reason that the Marylanders block the box, they think they are sticking it to the man, but they are really sticking it to every day people - renters and other people who live work in that area. So, the closure was deemed necessary as part of the study. |
Op here. Kids will take the bus home. Hoping it is reverse traffic. I believe balls hill to Georgetown pike isn’t the bottleneck. Hope I’m not wrong. I haven’t signed up for any afternoon activities yet. |
| Next week is the real test with kid going back to school in MCPS and privates. |

+1 No chip on his/her shoulder. None at all. |
+1 Everyone I know in the McLean/Great Falls area is in favor of closing that ramp during school dismissal times. |
Yep. The afternoons are the biggest issue. My daughter's bus was 30 minutes late due to the traffic on G'town Pike. |
