Sure. It "started" in LA, formed entirely by immigrants from Central American. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-39645640 A reputation for extreme violence The gang began in the barrios of Los Angeles in LA during the 1980s, formed by immigrants who had fled El Salvador's long and brutal civil war. Other members came from Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico. MS-13 established a reputation for extreme violence and for killing with machetes. It took root in neighbourhoods dominated by Mexican gangs, and later expanded to other parts of the country. According to the FBI, the gang has spread to 46 states. In 2012, the US Treasury designated the gang a "transnational criminal organisation". It was the first street gang to receive the dubious honour, placing it alongside much larger international cartels like the Mexican Zetas, Japanese Yakuza and Italian Camorra. |

0.6% according to ICE:

And what, exactly, would be *your* approach to ridding the country of this violent gang? Do tell. |
If MS-13 is the priority then I wouldn’t threaten all illegal immigrants so widely so they are too fearful to speak against MS-13. I would work with the other countries to come up with a solution. Incarceration, rehabilitation programs. Not just toss the problem over the fence for it to further fester uncontrolled. I wouldn’t blanketly call all illegal immigrants “animals” given that they are a tiny percentage of that population. |
Nobody has done this. But, then, you know that. |
Google “illegal immigrants” and “animals” and let me know what comes up! |
+1. If the whole goal is to make the US safer you NEED cooperation from the neighborhoods/communities most affected by violence, specifically in this case MS13. Any cop worth their salt will tell you that. |
I did. This was the first link.......... https://www.npr.org/2018/05/29/615355282/trump-tests-midterm-message-on-immigration-ms-13-animals-during-tenn-rally Even NPR acknowledges that the term “animals” was in reference to the drug gangs and MS 13. So, there you have it. |
This New Yorker piece is about Long Island, but still worth a read for insights into MS-13 and how fear of deportation prevents victims from speaking out.

Not long ago, many poor Irish, Russians, Italians, Chinese immigrants, legal and otherwise, became gang members. Yet, the US continued to allow them into the country, especially the Irish. |
But the gangs threaten to kill their children and any relatives that those people have in other countries. So cooperation is not going to be happening. Rising out of poverty isn’t going to be happening either as the gang wants cash from these people each week. Our politicians have created this mess - bringing these people here to live and work cheaply so that they (and their supporters) can enrich themselves , clustering them all in a low income area where all this crap can go on nonstop. Good job Montgomery county council! The Sanctuary city you’ve created is just so humane and great. I’m glad that construction and other companies have profited from the cheap labor as these people continue to live a crappy life here in the USA , and dragging the lives of middle and low income US citizens down in the whole process. Vote smarter people. There is no altruism in a sanctuary city - it’s just modern day slavery. |
You are incorrect. The people on the frontlines -- the police -- tell a different story. Posters have provided evidence -- links - to news stories where the police have stated that immigrants communities will come forward if they don't feel that their immigration status will be questioned. But you keep ignoring this.

796 MS-13 out of 143,470 ICE arrests in 2017 | + ----> 0.6% of ICE arrests 56 MS-13 out of 41,400 unaccompanied minors in 2017 | + ----> 0.6% of unnaccompanied minors Let's assign a very generous 1000 homicides to MS-13 out of 17,793 total homicides in the US in 2017 (# is probably closer to 100) | + ----> 0.6% of US homicides MS-13 is a problem, but it's not nearly as huge as Trump wants you to believe.
