Yes!!!! Water polo is so huge in SoCal. Bro dads are also on the varsity volleyball team. Both sports are relatively unappreciated on the East Coast. For many SoCal Bro Dads, their water polo or volleyball teams are waaaaaay more important than their football team. |
Pics of Cal bro dads? |
these same wives sell a lot of lularoe too. |
Water polo (or swim, but there was huge overlap between the two groups since most water polo players were good enough to make varsity swim), volleyball, and baseball. Wives did dance team. |
Yep, Bro Dads take vacations with other Bro Dads and don't socialize with guys who aren't BD's |
I wanna be a bro dad. It sounds like fun |
So Cal bro dads also take organized trips to Lake Tahoe at least once a year.
Honestly, their kids are really well adjusted and have a really healthy appetite for adventure and the outdoors. Society could do with more of these Bro Dad/Mom families. |
I think the drawback is bro dads can be really homophobic and racist. |
I grew up in Orange County, CA and this thread is 100% spot on. Dads were far less of "bro dads" back in the 80s and 90s when I was a kid but it seems like they somehow raised a generation of boys to create this (accurate) stereotype. Many of the guys I went to HS with became these "bro dads" - they all drive huge trucks, never have worn a tie in their lives, and vacations center around the beach, Lake Havasu, and may dirtbiking in the desert. |

From someone stuck in the Obama era ... |
Those dudes are annoying beyond belief! And don't even get me started on the shades. Say what you will about DC nerds in ill-fitting slacks but I'd take a DC nerd over a bro dad any second. |
Do bro dads give brojobs to each other? |
I'll take a stab at DC-area Bro Dads:
- Golfs. Like, actually likes it, not just for networking - Fit, but not "too" fit ("dad bod") - Polo shirts and ballcaps on the weekend - Drinks beer - May or may not smoke weed, but never around the kids - Listens to Dave Mathews Bland- sorry, I mean "Band" - Played guitar in college to get chicks, may play in a hobby band with his bro dad pals - College educated - Cell phone clipped to his belt (which is often one of those woven leather jobs) - General air of benign douchebaggery Did I miss anything? |
Played lacrosse in HS, always claims he would have been able to play D1 “if it wasn’t for my [xxxxx] injury.” Yoga-fit wife who settled for him and his earning prospects |
