SPOILER ALERT/REQUEST:

I missed just a bit of the show last Tuesday. I didn't see anything pertaining to Randall's both mother. Did we learn anything about her?

It was a montage that people have referred to on the last few pages. They show Randall's dad as a young poet writing on the bus, and then he meets a beautiful girl on the bus. The montage shows them getting unsteady and falling into addiction, until finally Randall's dad can barely write anymore. The last scene of the montage, the dad is alone, holding the baby.

People are saying the birth mom OD'd, but I thought she died in childbirth? I mean, she had to had the baby the same day that Kevin and Kate were born, according to the show's story...?

I think it makes more sense if you think of doing this with toddlers who have limited language skils. It feels like something one would chan with little ones.

Obvious analysis is obvious.

Still cheesy.

That's kind of what I was wondering--how did Randall really get to the hospital?

First show - Dad looking at his twins through the glass at the nursery, and the guy next to him says, "yours?" and he said "yes" and then asked which one was his and he said "none, damndest thing someone dropped off this kid at our fire station and I figured I'd bring him here," and they showed Randall.

Funny. I was watching it thinking it totally reminded me of 30something.

I also felt the show had a Thirtysomething vibe to it, and then I saw that Ken Olin directed an episode and is also one of the producers.

Shoot me down if you must, but every time they show the entrance (inside) of Kate's house, I'm thrown into a 90210 vibe. I feel so utterly certain that it's Brandon and Brenda Walsh's house. It seems so unlikely, yet so identical!

I was wondering about that too. We know she was an addict, but is it possible she died having the baby?

What did everyone think of tonight's episode?

I enjoyed it - this show is off to a strong start and the first 3 episodes have been consistent. I like all of the characters (although I prefer the flashbacks to current time) and so far the show seems to not shy away from dealing with big issues (like adoption, race, weight to name a few) in an intelligent (for a tv show) and relatable way.

Shoot! Forgot it was on. Hope it's On Demand.

*Spoiler* So I held it together through young Kevin's near drowning, Kate's poolside humiliation and the Randall/William apology scene. I was proud of myself for avoiding the tears but once Kevin showed up at the door, the brief exchange with William and one of the girl's needing him to video chat with her friend so the friend would believe she has this famous uncle did me in. I made it 57 minutes and then the deluge.

Seems like it could be childbirth or getting high immediately after and accidentally OD'ing because of the shock to the system after staying clean or cleaner during pregnancy.
