Agreed. Like why the self centered ego maniac TD thought it was appropriate to fire a coach who led a very successful team and was great with the boys. Just ridiculous. |
Which team? |
U15 boys???? |
Many people begin their posts "I usually don't get involved in the politics but..." I can honestly say that I truely do not as a rule of thumb because it never tends to be constructive or beneficial to anyone. However, I follow the information on this site as well as a few others to try to stay in tune with what's going on in the club. To be honest, this is has been my best source to stay up to date on whats going on because much of the happenings, most recently, have been learned from here and not necessarily the club itself, unfortunately.
I have to say that our plate seems to be full in terms of repairing the effects of some bad choices by the leadership. Please note that the board has vacancies and those that have ideas that may be helpful should take that energy and try to make the positive change this club so desperately needs. But I need to say that it is extremely disheartening to read the terrible attempts of some to challenge Eddie Lima's integrity. I worked with him a great deal during his time in Vienna, both before and during his role as TD. I can say that the person that offered examples of his dedication to the club just scratched the surface of what he did for this club. He literally was responsible for all of the responsibilities that are currently handled by several directors and staff. He worked, literally non-stop. His health suffered and his personal life suffered. But, if we recall VYS thrived and grew. I can not say what his salary was. Eddie had more integrity than to share that. From what I understand it was <70,000/yr. I can only say that we got our money's worth from this great guy. To insinuate that he participated in any activity is irresponsible. I am certain that if this had any merit we would have known about the facts of the matter. Vienna is not a hushed mouth community. The only comments within this thread revealing any tangible examples to verify a opinion were the ones were Eddie gave of his time without being compensated and created programs that were building this club. He has moved on. I would bet he doesnt even know what terrible things are being said here. I hope not. Again, there are positions available to sit on our BOD. Please consider taking the steps to put your concerns to rest. We definitely need some fresh faces. And Let's all try to be examples that our children can look up to. Think before we put such ugly things out there. |
good points but better if you were equally concerned with all who are being slandered. |
agreed. One thing that has been understated is how When Eddie was here he basically did the work of what 4 or 5 directors and staff do currently. He brought Jane and Gerardo on about a year before he left. They made a great team. One thing that is certain, if Lima was asking for more money, I think he deserved it. He did work on the constant. I received emails from him at times at 4am. he literally was always working. He made sure he answered any parent that reached out to him. I know there are a few anti-old tech team, but this is just another example of how you really don't know what you've got till it is gone. unfortunately. It may or may not have been a personal vendetta making this decision. Maybe the board believed that they could make things even better. but unfortunately the grass is not greener. its just a shame |
For the love of God people, just go to another club already. VYS is not the center of the youth soccer universe! You have options, either get on the BOD and make the changes that you think should be made or vote with your feet and leave, but two different threads of pining and whining do nothing but make your club look like a hot mess and a place to be avoided. And not just because of the club, but who I would have to stand next to on the sideline.
You might be the most miserable collection of soccer parents that I have had the pleasure to come across on a message board. |
“Complaining does not work as a strategy. We all have finite time and energy. Any time we spend whining is unlikely to help us achieve our goals. And it won't make us happier.” ? Randy Pausch |
I AGREE! I recommend a level headed group of parents that are willing to put personal agendas and feelings aside totally restructure the club. I mean worse case scenario, the place just keeps declining until the club completely dissolves. What do we have to lose at the rate we're going?
In response to the individual that recommended in a less than kind way to be nicer.. it was suggested that this group break off and create a thread to discuss this issue, which we did. Therefore, if it is something that you don't wish to read, simply dont. apparently you have your own issues if you started to read the "whining" and continued. that is what this board is for. Granted it could be more constructive but, it is what it is. |
Travel parents paid for the spring season in early December. Coach firings happened in February. VYS won't refund the money if you pull your child now. So, anonymous venting it is, lol! |
maybe the reason that the possible slander wasn't mentioned in that post a few back was because they were not convinced that it was slander going the other way. just a guess. |
There's been a lot of slander on this board -- of Eddie, of past and present board members, etc. That's not productive.
A discussion of what's going on with the new TD, though, IS productive. I have no problem with sharing info about what's going on. Coaches are being fired for dubious reasons. Good programs have been cut. And no, you're not going to see everyone leave VYS until the club collapses. VYS will still have a couple thousand House players, and enough of them will want to play travel that the club will still be able to field some teams. The club will still be here. So it's still worth discussing. So here's a question to move things forward: Should VYS pull out of the VPL? |
boys yes, girls no. question is whether they get kicked out. |
What would be the reasoning for pulling out of VPL? If the club committed to that league, they should continue with it. |
Some of those southern clubs look like they don't get any results -- are they in danger of being kicked out? Unless you're saying the club has now realized they were in over their heads in that league, then they can just go back into WAGS/NCSL to get appropriate-level competition |
