The guess includes a split articulation for the Rosemary Hill area to appease.

| They also are not going to split up NCC and CC, the kids go to RHPS and then get split in 3rd, they are not going to do another split again. |
Your “calling it” takes the children from three schools and “unpairs” them after they have been together and switched twice in their K-5 experience. It also undermines the desegregation plan that arose after tremendous controversy and now is a social success story, and it creates upwards of a 15-20% difference in white populations between the two schools. To achieve this dubious result, kids in the school furthest from Westland would have to endure the longest commute across the cluster. Using that logic, Westbrook could be sent north to the new school with Rosemary Hills, Rock Creek Forest, and the northern half of Chevy Chase. I’m struggling to understand why your call isn’t anything more than wishful thinking motivated by something other than the best interests of the students. |
Don't understand why your are getting upset by someone who came up with an idiotic plan? Do you think that taking the children who live closest to RHPS and splitting them from NCC and shipping them out is going to occur is a serious call? It would make the most sense to send RCF to Westland to balance the socioeconomic diversity. They are on the fringe of the boundary as it is, and there has been talk of moving them out of BCC for years because of the overcrowding. They only were able to go to Westland for the emersion program, which will not be at the new middle. |
They can move the Immersion program. Westland is too far... Chevy chase needs to go there. |
|
It does not make sense to move the immersion program from Westland to the new middle school. It does make sense to remove RCF from BCC to ease overcrowding at the high school level.
|
Whether it does or it doesn't make sense, it's not happening. So focusing on it is a waste of time. |
Indeed. The link above says specifically that no change like that will be made. |
That's the thing... The link and slides say no school boundaries will change. It also asks "what to do with the Rosemary Hills kids?" I'm not sure why it says that but it does. NCC is obviously going to the new BCC MS, so to even ask what to do when the school is split into NCC and CC is weird. The only way to do anything is to unbind it to these schools in some way. The question also hints at some possible issue with going to the new BCC MS when that's the most obvious choice based on location. So will special interests push for it to go to Westland and create some alternate path than the obvious? Its certainly a possibility. |
..."special interests"...? |

I've heard some chatter from neighbors that it's possible Rosemary Hills could go from a K-2 primary school to a K-5 elementary school at some point in the future. I think it used to be called Rosemary Hills Primary School and is now Rosemary Hills Elementary School, and the slides do reference a significant re-do of the facilities in the not-too-distant future. |
