Split articulation (bussing) for the new BCC Middle School?

That would be pretty stupid. The enrollment in the BCC cluster is continuing to rise, to close a middle school and transfer students over and close an existing school would not make any sense. I think you are just trying to stir the pot. Pot stirrer.

Although, we are talking about MCPS, there is no telling what is on their agenda.

Rumor mongerer, more to the point.

Did that rumor come from someone living in the Rock Creek Hills neighborhood?

That rumor doesn't even make sense. The entire population of Newport lives west of Georgia. So they would all leave their school, even the ones who live next door to it?

Kids who live west of Georgia and south of Forest Glen go to Sligo currently.

Why are the service area maps for Sligo MS and Newport Mill MS not on the MCPS website?

Oh I get it, thanks. So under this scenario no current Newport kids would go anywhere else.

Assuming that the BCC Cluster boundaries remain the same -

Isn't it the case that the *only* kids who will be able to walk to Westland will be the Westbrook kids?
And the *only* kids who will be able to walk to MS#2 will be 1/4 of the NCC kids (since only the NCC kids who live in Kensington would actually be able to walk to MS#2)?

So all other kids - Somerset, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, RCF and the 3/4 of the NCC kids who don't live in Kensington - will have to ride a bus to middle school.

That's true, except we are in North Chevy Chase and could probably walk. So yes, almost everyone will still have to take a bus to middle school. But the OP is fearmongering about "bussing," not just talking about bussing if you get my drift.

Yes, OP is not talking about busing kids to school. OP is talking about busing kids to school. You're supposed to think of, for example, Boston in 1974.

The initial post referenced a NAACP survey which mentioned split articulation. If you split kids out of their normal and expected articulation path that would require busing. I don't understand the fearmongering comment in this instance? I do think the spurious rumor posted about closing Sligo Middle is fearmongering.

but, the point above is that almost every MS student in the BCC cluster will be bused. The open question is which students will be bused to which schools. . .

And whether students that are together in 5th grade at one elementary school will all go to the same MS.

I don't think they'll be sending anyone directly from 2d grade to Westland!
