What do you think about a Japanese Immersion Public Charter in Ward 7?

Sent my response prematurely. Totally agree that more Black American kids need to understand their connection to the continent and diaspora. We were discussing slavery during Black History month and I found myself also having to explain the Haitian Revolution along with the Civil Rights movement in the US, based on some of her questions about her friends origins.

My DD is in a French school here in Haiti and self-identified as Haitian until recently, though we're African-American.lol Some of our Haitian friends thought it was funny that she was disappointed to learn that she wasn't when there are Haitian descendants in America pretending to be otherwise.
