You all sound as if you know absolutely nothing about the concept of immersion... funny! All of you are going back and forth about NOTHING. Spectators or should I say haters are funny. Do your homework before you speak on a subject you clearly have no knowledge in.

So you didn't write a post and then immediately write "I couldn't agree more" about said post? Why would the administrator of this site offer up an untruth. Answer: he wouldn't.

I'd like to point out that they have had someone operating as Principal for over a month. The website lists someone as Chief Academic Officer. What she is doing is very similar to Principal. So in essence, they do have a principal now. In addition, they have someone who is strictly in charge of Hebrew Instruction. I think that they need to clean up the job titles so that they sound more school like and easier for others to understand.

I have a child there and while things aren't perfect, the school isn't falling apart. In a lot of ways, they are better run than a DCPS school that my son attended last year. The staff and teachers are very responsive, and are quick to return e-mails and phone calls, unlike my son's previous school. I do like my son's teachers and he likes his classmates as well. They are learning Hebrew. He sings in Hebrew a lot and is always telling me how to say things in Hebrew.

There are drawback. The lack of a playground is something I wouldn't have though about a year ago, but it's absence is strongly felt. I am a little concerned about Dr. Lody leaving, since in a lot of ways, he was the heart of the school. My son is in Pre-K so it is easy to say that things are OK since in my opinion, Pre-K isn't all that important, but subsequent years are going to be important and telling.

The school hasn't said why the Pre-K teacher left. I heard that she wasn't a good fit, but the school isn't going to release anything. I haven't heard anything about the first grade teacher.

It's really unfortunate that a single individual has brought down the reputation of this school. Sela may be a perfectly good school, but this person is not doing it any favors with these odd rants.

No.. u people are the crazy ones if you think my post hurts a school! I am not the one on here saying the school is not viable and Hebrew has no place in DC that's your fellow instigators. I'm just not going to allow the instigators to disrespect me or what I post my opinion matters just like there's whether you or they like it or not. Further more you need to stick to reading the post that parents have offered that actually have kids at the school and not your fellow instigators. You might learn that the school is not falling apart or near closing despite what you all may think.

The lady that they have as CAO is only part-time. She is there 2 maybe 3 days a week. Which doesn't fit the bill as a principal. I do like her however if they are going to make her principal then they need to do just that so she can be there full time. The school year is almost over they need to make some serious decisions on the Administration if they want families to stick around. I can offer this information to you... my child is in K and absolutely loves the teachers. I can also say to you that they are all committed to making sure the K students are getting as much out of the Hebrew and english corriculum as possible. They are a wonderful team. The K-team is so great that after the 1st grade teacher left they gave her position to the K teachers assistant! Which she is awesome with the kids as well. If you stick around I don't think you will be disappointed with K, the english program or Hebrew. We have enjoyed our time in K and my child has learned so much. The Hebrew my child has learned in just this one year is outstanding and reading skills has sored! Good luck to you and your child at Sela.

Um, two things... your opinion only counts once. Not when you pretend to be two or three different people giving the same opinnion. And on reading posts from actual parents, this thread was resurrected by an actual parent who had a lot of troubling news and concerns to report. So even following your own point, 2 parents posted here and they both are concerned, one much more than the other apparently.

Craziness aside, Why would the ED announce this now, right before the lottery? Not great confidence-building. I have never been a fan of his. Something a little troubling by the constant reinvention and hopping around. Maybe it will be better for the school in the long run.

Because if he delayed the announcement til after the lottery and it came out later that he had already decided to leave prior to the lottery but kept it under wraps until after the lottery, it'll look a whole lot worse.
