Does anyone else think that Kate Middleton's wedding dress was a little dull?

Diana was glamorous. She chose her outfits to attract attention, and she did. She had beautiful blue eyes, perfect clear skin topped with a glittering, fluffy pile of golden blonde hair. She was very chic, and she outshone her husband.

Kate, on the other hand, does not make much of a statement with her outfits. She's attractive, reserved and dignified, but she does not outshine her husband. That's probably a good thing for the survival of their marriage. She's pretty, but not glamorous, and definitely not beautiful. Diana wasn't really beautiful (her nose was too big), but she had a lot of flair, was tall with long legs and boobs, which Kate is lacking, at least now. Kate looks like she lost about 15 pounds pre-wedding, which makes her look older and bony. When she plumps out, she'll look a lot more attractive.

Diana had amazing charisma and style. She just had a magnetic personality which made everyone think she was beautiful even though she probably wasn't. She was a style con at the time and, in order to be a trendsetter, one has to take risks and eventually look outdated. Kate is fine. But she is no Princess Di.

I don't know. First of all, it's entirely legitimate to prefer understated clothes. There's a certain elegance to this.

I'm also not sure why PP feels someone in Kate's position has any responsibility to be a style icon.

Of course she doesn't have the responsibility to be a style icon. I didn't care that her dress was conservative or understated. I just thought it was ugly- very hard lines for hard-looking person. There is nothing soft about her appearance so softer lines would have worked better for her.

Oh yes, way too boring for a Princess!! Why did she keep that a secret? I suppose I have lots of dresses myself that I should keep secret if that one was a secret! LOL!! Also, being modeled after another Princess, that's just terrible honey, you're never going to make it trying to be an American who became a Princess. I really don't care for anything she wears anyway but I do think her second dress of the day was much better. Alexander McQueen is rolling in his grave at that dress!! Yuck! Pippa on the other hand...Wow!! Pippa and Harry were amazing!! It's like the show Will & Grace. Did anyone really like Will or Grace? No, not unless you were boring!! It should have been called Jack & Karen. This wedding, we didn't need William or Kate, just Harry and Pippa thank you very much!!! Anyway, BORING. The Queen should be embarrassed.

She did look quite a bit older and bony in her second dress, but if the media gets to her, she may never "plump out". William looks quite old as well so they are a perfect pair. I just hope their children aren't born looking like they are 15 years old.

I am not going to read all 14 pages. I just don't have that kind of time.

Kate's dress was much like mine was except mine had short sleeves. This may make me biased but I really liked hers and thought it was perfect and with the times. I when Prince Charles and Diana got married and I remember thinking that her dress was too much. I still feel that way. Diana was young, the Royal Family had a different standing in British Society, and fashions were much different.

I read somewhere that Diana was later quite embarrassed by her wedding dress. She was 19 (or barely 20) at the time. Based upon her style when she was Kate's age, I would guess that she would have approved of Kate's dress. Also, St. Paul's is a much bigger space, and Diana needed a bigger dress and train, to avoid disappearing completely. Someone wrote an article in Slate about whether this dress will lead to revival in good taste and restraint in ladies' dress. Let's hope.

Whoever thinks Tara Palmer-Tomkinson looked good is definately high. Her electric blue dress looked like an evening dress and the hat was perched strangely.

Someone please explain the hats. Is this some custom? Who can wear the most ridiculous hat, a hat balanced off the forehead in a neon shade of puke green or electric blue? The more feather the better? Tell me about these hats.

Brits are hat people. The uglier the better.

I heard she kept it a secret because she wanted to surprise her groom. You know... like normal brides get to do. Sounds reasonable to me. They tell me he whispered that she looked beautiful.

By the way this person wrote this, I think it's one of the posters that months ago (when the whole Tiger Woods thing happened) went on and on about Elin not being beautiful and I believe even Giselle Bunchen was criticized.
