Not bot, not AI. Just a malfunctioning human. Tedious.

I live in NYC. I love it here. But college here is a unique experience. It could be incredible. But you and your kid need to know what they are getting into.

And same for a truly remote school like Grinnell. Could be a cool experience but you need to know what you are getting into.

If you are rejecting a big bad Democrat city just because you are dumb enough to get your propaganda from Fox News and they have told you it is scary there, you aren’t smart enough to go to college.

LOL. DCUM is filled with dumb people getting their propaganda from MSNBC News or whatever they call themselves, NPR, NYT and scaring their kids away from Iowa or Texas or Florida or most places south of the Mason Dixon line. Way more than the other way around.

No one is “scared” of the shthole MAGA states. We’re repulsed by many of the people living there.

This!

Yes, they are cesspools of ignorance.

And present excellent opportunities for progressives to move there and make a difference.

Unless, of course, you really just want to live in your privileged bubble and sneer at the less educated and less fortunate?

The South already has a lot of progressives! And they have been working hard to change things against a strong headwind. Disheartening to read people painting a region with such a broad brush.

And the arrogance is astounding, but I guess there are no racists and MAGA up North. They even though seem to have a problem with Asians.

My family on the West Coast has visited the South many times. Would have supported my DC if they wanted to go to school there.

Then why is your state government so f-ed up?

I went to UMD Law and lived in Baltimore for 3 years alone in my 20s, it's fine. Peabody area and other areas have lots of young people by harbor, just dont venture over MLK and you're fine. Why are we raising such snowflakes??

NP. I've lived in a "safe" part of baltimore for almost 20 years. No one is being an "snowflake" when acknowledging that there is a lot of crime/criminals/unsafe places here. It's just a fact.

Just proving my point about the arrogance of people painting with such a broad negative brush about the South.

Google is your friend, but here are few reasons

— gerrymandering (many articles available if you look for them)

— vote suppression (much online about this, too)

—the abandonment of the South by national Democrats over the last 30 years (Texas being one example)

Hope this helps.

Hate to break it to you but you’re not making a difference. Red states are as backwards as ever.

I have no interest into trying to persuade people who don’t want to be persuaded.

Much of it is a choice.

More of a difference than you are. By far.

Again, I have zero interest in trying to convince a bunch of a-holes to be less of an a-hole. My mom has tried in her extended family and it’s pointless. They are dug in deep to their alternate reality.

So the liberals have no chance of gaining power. Good luck with that.

I prefer to live in an area with fewer a-holes.

It’s not my job to fix your mess.

+1. Not our kids job either. They should go to college in a state that has some respect for this country including the women of this country. And for science. Let's have some respect for science. that is good for starters

No actual, real examples or statistics of doctors exiting any states are provided in this article. It is just a fearmongering opinion piece - similar to the rantings of the unhinged DCdumb abortionist.

Okay, try these too. Idaho is not considered the South but has lost a significant percentage of its OBGYNs. Abortion bans do not represent the modern standard of care for reproductive health. I'm interested in a modern standard of care for my family. You can do whatever you want.

Hilarious! After demeaning the American South for 3 or 4 pages of her rantings, when pressed, she comes up with an example from Idaho. Batsh*t crazy lady!
If you want to send your kid off to college in Idaho or any Southern state with an abortion ban, go right ahead. Plenty of posters on here are not going to do that and with good reason.
Planned Parenthood should establish its own university, with a clinic in each dorm, so students can get treated & still make it to class on time.
This thread is getting beyond the topic at hand But why don't you just reconsider this knee-jerk anti-abortion reaction you have to everything. This anti-abortion crusade has in fact been a failure and abortion rates have increased in this country since Dobbs. It has also had a negative effect on reproductive care in certain States.

Just take a deep breath and reconsider your position. Maybe if you were really pro baby pro pro fertility pro kid pro women pro healthcare you could support policies and positions that work in favor of all of those things instead of abortion bans which do the opposite.

Abortion bans are very anti-pregnancy an anti-women's health. Every woman of a certain age has either had some reproductive issue, go sideways herself, or knows plenty of people that have had that happen. Just stay out of people's personal reproductive business and try to support policies that will encourage an increased birth rate in this country instead of do the opposite.
+1. This is the most anti pregnancy, anti women environment we have had for a long time. The election can't come soon enough to begin to get rid of these losers.

By all means.

What does science say about the deleterious effects living in an echo chamber?

Or, if you prefer, what does science say about the benefits of living in a politically diverse community?

You’ve got some reading to do.
