There's a difference between smartboards (which I don't love anyway) and saying ECErs are doing homework packets, iready, etc. Screens aren't great for other reasons, but they aren't necessarily indicative of non-play based. In fact, most of the things screens are used for in my kid's class are play adjacent (go noodle & yoga), it's just unnecessary in my mind.

Why are there even smart boards in every ECE in DCPS? Why?

You don’t know what you don’t know. But the teachers know what they are told they need to do.

Appletree Spring Valley
Marie Reed
HD Cooke
John Lewis
Dorothy Height
Military Road Early Learning Center
Hyde-Addison
Brightwood
John Francis
Stevens Early Learning Center
Sheperd
Apple Tree - Columbia Heights

Shepherd is 0%. IB kids don’t get in for preK3.

They certainly aren’t for homework or iReady, so I don’t even understand what you’re trying to claim….

OP here! Sorry, I forgot about this thread for a bit, but there are a couple other requests so I'll finish them off. You'll get into Appletree Spring Valley - they've cleared their waitlist before school starts every year.

Lottery Nerd Signing Off!

Results this Friday (or maybe Thursday night). Best of luck to everyone. Maybe I'll make a new thread to predict end results based on waitlist numbers if I have time.

Remember - there are more good schools than people think in this city. I know a lot of people who got "disappointing" lottery results and ended up super happy. Have faith!

And have more kids! The lottery REALLY rewards big families

Thanks for getting me (the 12-school list) in at the end. I'll let you know if your prediction is validated!

Equitable Access

OP here:

Latin 2nd St - 100%

They've cleared their equitable access list every year since it's inception.

Nailed it! In at Latin 2nd St.

Mundo Verde Calle 8

Would probably not move after the school year starts.

Oyster - 10%
Mundo Verde Cook - 37%
Basis - 10%
Mundo Verde Calle 8 - 0%
Nothing - 43%

Wow! We matched at Basis, #1 on waitlist for Mundo Verde Calle 8(sibling preference) (I had gotten them mixed up and switched preference) and #16 for Oyster.

DD is from a Spanish language feeder school and got waisted at DCI. Thankfully she's #2. I think our chances are good. Thoughts?
