| falls Church is open today with a delayed start. |
What are you talking about? They’ll be closed. Because, you know, equity. Not everyone can be driven to school by mommy. |
|
DCPS opened yesterday and today for the same reason. Equity.
With the message about end of quarter and a tight deadline of end of school Tuesday to get things completed, doubt they will be closed. And there will not be any new weather over the weekend. |

I saw lots of APS buses out today practicing I assume.
I'm all about transparency in solving a problem. APS should show which properties or other metrics push the decision and where there are issues. This would have allowed community effort to address said concerns and get over the hurdle but it's easier just to not share the information and not get something done. If you're transparent about the problems or challenges, you can both get community support (such as clearing sidewalks at school XYZ ) and pressure is exerted to solve said challenges (say they didn't have enough bus heaters or something so that that a buses could get started. Well maybe they need more funding for that and the community could lobby the board for more funding for the future) almost all problems are solvable. So let's be transparent about the issue, don't throw anybody under the bus, and get them done so it doesn't happen again. Pressure APS to BE TRANSPARENT with metrics. |
| As of now, basketball games are on tonight. That makes me think school will be on time for Monday. |
Do we think that the county house league will have games tomorrow? Those are usually in elementary schools, we could leave town if they aren’t happening. |
Swim district meet is also being held tonight. So I agree with school on Monday, though I still wouldn’t rule out a 2 hour delay. |
They’re driving kids to sports meets, which are on as scheduled. Apparently we can do things like sports, just not things like educating. |
Wasn't APS already supposed to be closed today? |
For classes but is a teacher workday. Buildings are open. |
Just got an email that rec basketball and indoor soccer are on. Makes me think they will open on Monday. |
Oh, for the love of God just leave town. It’s a house game. |
This has not always been the case from past experience. Having responsibility for parents to drive is much different than buses, and unaccompanied children walking. |

They are going to open on Monday and no all the sidewalks aren't going to be clear. Last January they opened when all the sidewalks weren't clear.
My kid is a walker and we've found an alternate route she can take that is more clear or we'll drive her. Not every kid is going to have perfect conditions to get to school. Welcome to how much of America goes to school in the winter. If you can't handle this keep your kid home. |

High school and middle school teachers are writing us emails about end of quarter make up options THAT INCLUDE MONDAY. It is a very tight time frame to get in any makeup work or tests.
Somehow I think they have information that the parents of DCUM do not have. |
