I don't plan to go into DC while it is occupied unless I absolutely have to. |
Listening to propaganda?? Unplug from information channels?? Get in touch with real life you say? I live in a neighborhood where there is a checkpoint set up. A delivery person was recently attacked by federal agents 300 feet from my house. I was walking down the sidewalk with my kids when it happened in front of us. This IS real life right now. Am I going to get stopped randomly walking in my neighborhood? No. I’m blonde and fair-skinned. I have the privilege of not being approached by groups of men wearing generic police vests and masks. But I’m worried for my coworker, families at my kids’ schools and others who are quite literally are just trying to live their lives. I’m worried for what this is doing to the city I’ve lived in for 25 years. These things are actually happening. Don’t stick your head in the sand and then act like this is all fake news. |

NP. You don’t live in DC. STFU. The police checkpoints are extremely unpleasant. The National Guard are carrying guns with orders to shoot if they feel threatened. Parents are rightly concerned; bullets can ricochet. We do not need this here. Trump can f** off. |
Yes, stray bullets can kill you in DC. That’s actually why the Guard is here. To fix this problem. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/man-hit-and-killed-by-stray-shot-into-his-northwest-dc-home/3921904/ |
The Guard and the masked, unbadged roving gangs are making things much worse. If you are not here in DC, then you really have no place to comment on it. We don't like being an occupied city. |
What do you think will happen to you? I went the other day for a beer, and was fine. My wife has been going to the office, and has been fine |
If you are a black or brown person who doesn't want to be snatched and offed to Uganda, it is totally understandable. |
DP. Except they are not doing anything about actual crime. They are hanging around the tourist areas which have significantly less crime than other parts of the city and setting up checkpoints in parts of NW to catch undocumented immigrants. They aren’t on patrol in Wards 7 or 8. Picking up trash in the federal parks and riding around the Mall on horseback isn’t doing a damn thing about gun violence. |
Ah, a white man speaking while sitting on his high horse. |
Has anyone posted about the two murders that took place this weekend. I guess Congress Heights is an area that is off limits to the National Guard. Or, is it that the poor people who just might benefit from the extra police support doesn't matter to people in charge. |

FEDERAL SURGE IMPACT'S TOURISM: Tour guide owners say they're feeling the brunt of a downturn in tourism this month, as political rhetoric and a recent federal crime crackdown cast a shadow over what is normally a consistent travel season. |
The National Guard is not in DC to make things safe. They are here to occupy and oppress the population. If you had any experience with the National Guard you would know arming them is a big mistake. Though you do not car about public safety, the law or the constitution. |
Wait till the National Guard gets bored and starts hassling your wife. Occupation troops are above the law and they always end up raping and stealing. |
Well, the “actual” crime discussed in the article was in Columbia Heights in Ward 1. And the feds are most certainly in Ward 1. So, I guess we’re good? |
