It's a big advantage to being the only ECNL team in an area -- you'll dominate recruiting where the have a much better chance at forming super teams to compete nationally. While it certainly means more on the girls side, it'll likely a pretty decent option for boys, too.

VDA already competes nationally on both the girls and boys side too. As does Arlington. Not sure what good switching does for either of them. None of their girls want to be GA and Next is so watered down in the area with all the recent additions that it’s not all that attractive either for their boys- most of who play HS and earn all the local accolades. My sense is they will stay put while they see how this little experiment plays out. No reason for either club to depart at this stage when they hold the cards with sound funding, strong competitive teams on girls and boys side and academy/college placement that is superior to many in the area… .

You, it is very evident, don’t know much about the boys side in this area.
In totality, it would be a big demotion for either of them to switch from ECNL.

Look closer at mid to lower tier ECRL clubs if you are trying to figure out who would switch. Like one sliding to MLSN2/Ga makes more sense.

MLSN is trying to build out MLSN2 not oversaturate MLSN even more.

So, speaking strictly about the boys side, it was a big demotion for Loudoun to switch to MLS Next?

Their top 2 directors have high-level daughters and, even though they knew switching would have an immediate negative impact on the girls side, they knew they had to make that move. If MLS Next won’t offer VDA or Arl a seat at the big kids table (ie only MLSN 2) yes that would be a demotion and agree they certainly wouldn’t switch.
So reading comprehension issues?

Arlington and VDA will both leave ECNL, that is all there is to comprehend.
In totality, it would be a big demotion for either of them to switch from ECNL.

Sorry, girl Dad, not when the boys side is added to the equation. Don’t let the VDA social media machine fool you, they’ve consistently been losing talent to SYC and now NVA on the boys side.

This is the issue. Do you kill the girls side to get to a better place on the boys side? It is what a club pays the leadership to decide. The boys side would be in a much better place. But make no mistake you would kill the girls side. GA is not on par with ECNL; not even close. There would be a 75% roster turnover. Now if they can fill the slots maybe they do not care. And I am sure they can fill the slots. But Arlington and VDA have had a pretty good college placement track record on the girls side. They could not replicate that in GA. The top half of the team would be fine but the real value that I have seen is that ECNL teams tend to place almost the entire team on college teams -- even bad ECNL teams. GA does not. The bottom half of the roster would be impacted. Leadership has to make a decision. I really doubt either will do this -- more money on the girls side. But if they do both will at the same time.

Help me to understand how ECNL makes more money than GA for clubs. You even said it yourself that if a club switched from ECNL to GA that they could fill the spots. So I guess it comes down to ECRL? Which GA addresses with DPL and Aspire.

If you're just talking about money what it comes down to is which league has the draw to enable 3rd 4th 5th teams. MLSN does that for the boys. ECNL does not do this for the girls.

ECNL and GA are probably revenue neutral. My comment was girls side makes more money than boys side because girls side is almost all full pay and boys side is not.

Maybe the girls top team makes more than boys, but overall the club makes more from boys because there are usually more boys teams in the club than girls, more boys attending their club camps, specialized trainings, futsal. MLSN branding matters for attracting boys the the club.

MLS branding definitely is important to the boys but as a parent I wouldn't choose an MLSN club over a good ECNL club for the branding alone.

ECNL pushes college, MLSN sells the pro dream but a kid can go to an MLS Academy just as easy from ECNL and MLSN kids have no blockers preventing them from the college path. Ultimately comes down to the quality of the org.

Arlington or Richmond. ECNL.

RU

Girls or boys?

Both- their college placements for boys are very strong--Villanova, JMU, UMass, Gtown, Mason, UNC- W, Ivys, W&M. Nearly their entire rosters have committed which in this day and age with boys recruiting is super rare. Far better than Next college results in this area for sure with the exception of Bethesda who also does very well.. There is no way these ECNL clubs will switch as there is no reason to change and dilute themselves. They've got great results for the type of customer they have (which is the college focussed customer).

Three kids from this year's class are going to be freshman on preseason D1 top 25 teams. UVA, WVU, Gtown. Not bad. I'm not sure if it will continue at this level as the younger ages are starting to get their talent snatched up by MLS academies.

I have a theory that its not multiple ECNL parents posting the crazy. Its likely just one poster and they're either on drugs or being paid by ECNL or US Club to post.

This used to work because there wasnt many places you chould get information about youth soccer. Now theres several and people are correctly calling out when statements are just not true.

Anyone pushing one league over the other has an agenda. There is no material difference in outcomes based on the league for boys. Girls might be a different story. Even then, club > league.

The weird thing about the super troll that's posting everywhere is that they love SY (School Year) groupings and seem to hate MLS Next and biobanding.

Normally Id assume these kind of rantings would be a girls ECNL parent but I think this time it's a boys ECNL parent.

Nah, what it is happening is that anyone who disputes some of the nonsense the MLSN people throw around is labeled an 'ECNL Hat' to avoid actually making an argument. I can tell by your grammar (or lack thereof) you are the same MLSN guy from the SY thread. You post crazy stuff (that is barely legible) and then flail around calling everyone who disputes it crazy and 'ECNL hats'.

How much is ECNL paying you per post?

As an outsider, I don't see ECNL individuals starting inflammatory stuff, what I see is GA fanboys wishcasting that the league will get better and MLSN fanboys in pay to play pretending the the academies are some how not a level above the MLSN pay to play teams. Overall, just insecure jealousy in many GA and MLSN pay to play folks on DCUM. Not sure why, these are just kids leagues. If they are coming mostly from kids playing in GA or MLSN pay to play that would explain a lot.
