The Williams Prestige

Anonymous
It’s a great school
But I have noticed the alumni are extremely obsessed with and insistent upon its prestige and elite status.
Also, they call it “Williams College.”

Decline of Amherst? Amherst has broken application records two years in a row. Gets more apps and has a lower acceptance rate than Williams. I think it's because of the mixed feelings about Williams' location.

Definitely doesn’t have a lower acceptance rate than Williams. Amherst and Bowdoin have artificially low acceptance rate because they pretend to be need blind for internationals. Before someone chirps, yes they are need blind for internationals but they offset it by only admitting about 1.5% of them.

Williams' acceptance rate went up last year:
Class of 2029 8.5% overall rate represents an increase from the record-low 7.52% for the Class of 2028.

Amherst's went down:
Amherst College admitted approximately 7% of applicants to the Class of 2029. This figure represents a drop from the 9% acceptance rate for the Class of 2028.

You can spin it any way you want, but OP is incorrect about Williams being somehow above the ASP schools. They are virtually indistinguishable.

100% The top dozen SLACs are all virtually indistinguishable.

Yes, but there are some differences. Bowdoin is also need-blind for international students, received 14,694 applications this cycle. Amherst received more than 17,500. Williams admissions dean said they're expecting between 12,000 and 15,000 but of course could end up being more.

the placement and outcomes for Williams grads is and has always been nothing short of incredible - year in and year out it rivals Princeton in all fields, save engineering
