They absolutely should be required to. And the counseling companies should be required to sign off on the application, so that it's clear the student was coached.

I'd be fine with that. My kid had no academic tutoring. I really think this idea that smart high school kids should get academic tutoring is nuts.

Yes this is a little cringe but people will fall over themselves to hire from these schools. Those that will not are a small subset and really a rounding error. These people are led on a path but you cannot deny that they are crazy smart in ways that matter. I would not worry about the team player with these kids. They can adapt to anything.

Not a fan of all this but these kids are in demand after graduation. You are filling yourself with fake news otherwise.

I would not be so sure about that. Have you read about what is happening at Harvard, Cornell, UPenn, etc lately? They may have forced their leaders to step down, but things have not improved much. I think the only ivy that is unscathed is Darmouth. The rest have fallen and will not be worth the price tag.
