Every thing that Atwood put in the Handmaid’s Tale already happened; she didn’t make anything up. The knitting them all together to create a cohesive fictional society is the author’s invention, but the misogynists who lived and existed were the inspiration for The Handmaid’s Tale. Though I agree with your larger point. |
