| Unfortunately, the constitution does not have a clause that suggest pardoning yourself from federal crime is impermissible. There is a textualist argument that can be made that it is is allowed even though it is a terrible policy. I don’t agree with allowing this, but the constitution is not written in a way that prohibits a presidential self-pardon scenario. |

Normally defendants have their family members in the courtroom with them at their trials. It’s just Trump who mostly didn’t. |

| The judge has precluded the ability to share the original form Hunter used to obtain the gun, which would show that the owners of the shop manipulated the form, which got Hunter into trouble. I guess that would be appealable? |

It's not unusual for family members to show up in court as a show of support toward the defendant. If I were going up against serious charges, I'd want my family there as well--wouldn't you? I do find it interesting, however, that Escort Melania never once appeared in court to support her husband. Also conspicuously absent was Favorite Child Ivanka. |

Judge also rejected one of the defense's key witnesses: an expert witness the defense planned to use to question whether the president’s son saw himself as a drug addict at the time he filled out a firearms application claiming he was sober. I mean, it's very odd that the judge is refusing to allow Biden to mount a full defense. How can she reject an application altered by the gun shop? |

It is a pretty crazy ruling. The whole case depends on this form and the gun store owners admitted they changed the form 3 years later when the ATF came to get it because they realized that they had gotten a second form of identification as required. So the form getting submitted into evidence is not the one Hunter actually filled out, but instead a version hat was doctored years later. It does seem that both the original form and the doctored form have the box for unlawful drug use checked no, but it seems pretty relevant in cross-examination that the government's main witness was willing to doctor the form that is at the heart of the case. Hunter should get a chance to question this guy about it since it goes to his credibility. |
