+1 This thread is so obviously about publics. When people say "Virginia schools/colleges," the implication is VA State schools. Duh. |
Uh, no. Virginia schools have both good private and public options. But...most DCUM posters think UVA is like the only school in the state. Trust me: nobody is talking about Radford. |
Such a bizarre post. Did you even read the OP? There are so many publics in VA - and yes - people "are talking" about all of them. What most people are NOT talking about are the privates, because they're off the table for most. |
If you can't get into UVA, guess that means you can't get into W&L ( and maybe Richmond) either. Probably the reason those two VA privates aren't mentioned much. You speak like the DCUM posters are poor. No - most are white and UMC. And everyone on DCUM talks about UVA. The others? Meh |
Sure, Jan. There are a few UVA boosters who post over and over. VT seems to be the most popular school at my kids' high school. Everyone wants to go there.
|
VT has like a 55% acceptance rate and 40,000+ applications. A pretty average college. But continue... |
Really not sure what point you think you're making, but do continue looking foolish. |
You got rejected from VT. Got it. |
There is none. It’s just a fungible blob of other places. |
|
I just suggested Radford to someone on a FB page I’m on last night because it fit the criteria the student was looking for
Fwiw, I also suggested GW and Drexel |

This is true nationally, but VA isn't estimating a big decline like other states. It's projected to stay within .5% or something like that. Fairfax has a slightly aging population (young families priced out of real estate), but not extreme and less expensive areas are growing (esp with remote work making living further out more feasible). |
Well, a 3.5 to a 3.8 today is like a 2.8 - 3.0 back in my day so there were lots of schools for low B students like non-engineering majors at Tech or JMU or VCU. |
