Naive parents got tricked into this nonsense. |
Fortunately, courts don't base this on your opinion and assault is a felony regardless of what you think the criteria is... |
There is a bullying incident in my child's classroom a week ago where they used RJ and it worked beautifully. The problem was completely resolved. |
Don’t let the troll above convince you this is MCPD’s fault. This mess falls squarely at the feet of Elrich and the council. While it’s convenient to blame the police, it’s rather hard to do since they were kicked out of schools. Blame the ones doing the kicking. And MCPD mad? Please. They’ve been putting up with the council’s nonsense for a couple years now. The fact we still have officers left is a testament to their patience and professionalism. |
Agree 100%. I would add that I also blame our BOE and MCPS leadership. |
No because it never happened. It's just another RWNJ fiction. |

I quit last year because a student threatened me and the school refused to install videos in the classroom. I was afraid it would happen again and I would have to defend myself and end up accused of something. I was literally afraid to be alone in the classroom unless there were videos.
This was a private school, not in DC area. But I completely understand the teachers perspective. |

Our MCPS school is losing a 4th grade teacher tomorrow (kids/parents will not find out until tomorrow afternoon so that she does not have to deal with the complaints). 100% because of the no consequences in elementary school rules. This is due to the BOE.
Her mental health and physical safety are of course most important. But the reality is that her departure impacts our entire school and takes away even more support from the remaining teachers. Kids should not be allowed to fight and threaten students and teachers with no consequences! |
Very sorry to hear about your colleague. Curious why you say it's attributable to the BOE, rather than central office staff? Which BOE policy is it that specifies the no consequences in elementary school rules, and how recently was this policy written? |
so, can you show me a court case where two kids who got into a fight where no serious injury occurred were charged with a felony in MoCo? |
Per MCPS's own report, it's not working "beautifully". It's an abysmal failure. |
How is this due to the BOE? Can you point to a meeting where they decided there would be no consequences? I just don't understand why MCPD isn't enforcing the laws and protecting our citizens from assault. |
Well, at our school, RJ helped put an end to my kid being bullied so I have to disagree. It works great. |
Can you elaborate? How did it work? |
This is a tragedy. Why are the admins ok with this? Why aren't the admins protesting as much as the teachers are? |
