TMZ reports they are using the old famous cheater defense of "we were separated before we started banging", aka, the Brad/Angelina, Oliva Munn defense.

Staff at ABC say they know the affair was at least a year old. They said it was pretty well known around the office. The affair wasn't discovered by spouses until August and so then divorce proceedings were started.

ABC is issuing no fines/no punishment and going forward with the story that they were both separated when they started "dating", though they did not tell ABC that they were dating until this story/photos broke.

Amy's is a quickie divorce which she claims was started in August and will be settled in 2 weeks.

Yet, 1 year ago she released a book with her husband about blending families and went on record in an interview with Shue saying how their marriage was a "happy ending" about making marriages with blended families work...and then there were those lovey Greek vacation pictures with Shue in July. So...yeah, ok, whole alibi checks out

The fact their spouses have remained mum and deleted all record of them pretty much tells you this was a big blindside and affair that had been long going on before they found out and kicked them out.

Lying is no problem for TJ & Amy so I am sure they will double down on their version of events and ABC will support so as not to do more damage...this is a helluva lot like the storyline of "The Morning Show". Some real rats in the morning shows.

I guess they will just report it matter of fact tomorrow and go into their newscast without missing a beat.

Fwiw, my father was a lawyer who handled a lot of divorces. He routinely said couples held off on divorcing until after their family summer vacation and after Christmas. In short: filing for divorce was typically seasonal.

I’m not surprised the news broke in August and they filed then. She was probably keeping the peace until after their trip. Heck, the trip might have been the last ditch effort to save the marriage.

Nah. Everyone (that was around them/worked with them) was talking about how intimate they were in July at the Queen's jubilee. They weren't hiding the affair well at all.

She has a teen in high school and probably wanted one more 'family vacation' for their memory book with dear old step-dad that raised them since she was 2.

But, I have heard affairs on married websites start after Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. for women. I believe your dads stats too. They don't want to ruin everyone's Christmas or vacation by springing their affair on the fam.

I think TJ & Amy planned their exit strategy and knew for quite sometime they would both announce to their spouses that they were leaving in August. I think Amy already had done all the paperwork and met with an attorney and likely dropped the bombshell “I’m not happy with the divorce papers”.

While Amy and TJ had this plan in the works for many months prior (they have been boning for at least 15 months now), I believe they’re respective spouses were blindsided.

It goes along with how quickly the divorce is proceeding.
