What non political controversial position do you hold?

We need more skilled tradespeople like carpenters than white-collar administrative workers, many of whom don’t make or do anything particularly useful.

We need more emphasis on helping young adults find meaningful work, not “prestigious” or highly paid work.

A lot of modern elementary and secondary education is pointless.

College is often wasted on the young.

Feminism got some things wrong. Instead of seeking equal access to a white male paradigm, we should have pointed out how that paradigm isn't great for either men or women.

Teens learn a lot more from working at Burger King full time over the summer than they do from a resume-bolstering “internship.”

Thank God parents who have to help children with these conditions can rely on medical science rather than your prejudices. We can both tolerate even celebrate quirkiness and make sure our children with ADHD/ autism/ sensory issues or whatever are getting the supports they need to flourish.

Though if we were still hunters and gatherers ADHD would thrive so in a way it is a social construct that it’s a negative trait.

Also I believe there is more ADHD because it’s hereditary and besides school a dominant/positive trait and more people wound rather screw on ADHD person because they are better hence more ADHD kids.

We really are so much better. Like, we really get into it.

Oh, also:

Many people shouldn’t have children.

A couple having more than two kids is selfish from an environmental perspective.

Also, that movie was idiotic made no sense. It's not how kinky people behave or play at all.

50 shades is a movie that glorifies abuse who cares about the acting.
Consensual kinky sex, even with impact play that involves pain is not abuse. But that movie did not portray that lifestyle correctly at all.

That isn't just controversial, it's so ignorant. I have ADHD. Damn, I wished I had been diagnosed in my youth and gotten proper treatment. My life is night/day with treatment.

How do you explain how many more kids have it today? It is SO many more kids and not just because of additional diagnoses. It has to be environmental somehow.

Because it's being diagnosed more. Because the criteria have changed. Because some parents want a quick fix and medication for their kids. I know several mothers who have specifically asked drs for meds and an ADD evaluation for their kids.

No it’s because ADHD people are sexier, fun, romantic and great in the sac. Therefore there are more adhd children.
This is very true.

It’s drivel, I get it’s enjoyable but so is the Internet. People use it to escape just like reading the internet.

Any argument you can make for reading non-fiction you can say the same about surfing the net.

People who get their ego from grammar and spelling are the same people that are having a heart attack reading my opinion.

Do you mean fiction?

Lol yes

So you believe that sitting down and reading Hamlet is the same as scrolling through TikTok?

OK.

😂😂😂😂

Yeah not a controversial argument so much as completely unconvincing …

Hamlet is a play that was never meant to be read. It was meant to be performed and watched.

Next.

How is that relevant?

For someone who can't distinguish between fiction and non-fiction, you're really going to the mattresses for this historically bad take. Maybe you should gracefully retire.

Shakespeare didn’t even think hamlet should be read but you know better.

Gracefully retire

Again, what does that have to do with the actual point - that reading FICTION is the equivalent to scrolling social media?

We have a population crisis in this country. Any science based method of childbirth including IVF and any other method than natural reproduction should end. Not everyone should have a child.

The internet, or the unchecked greed of big tech, will destroy democracy as we know it.

Kids and teens are being harmed by unfettered access to technology such as social media. It’s addictive and has effects on kids that we don’t fully understand.

PP here you quoted. How is it ignorant? Have they decided definitively the cause of ADHD? And figured out why it’s prevalence is increasing so much? I’m not saying it isn’t real. I work every single day with ADHD kids - I am a resource aid at an elementary school. It is very much real. And sadly for some of these kids no amount of prompts and scaffolding and text to type and read aloud testing is going to make a difference. Some kids are success stories don’t get me wrong, but some of these kids I’m not even sure how they will graduate.

Just because people don’t know the cause of something doesn’t mean it is caused by bad parenting. Honestly you have no business being working with kids with ADHD if you really are that ignorant.

+1 and I think the PP is conflating ADHD with poor executive functioning and behavioral issues. I am a PP who mentioned I was diagnosed later in life. I was a "good kid" but a daydreamer/couldn't get organized. My kid has ADD but is also in AAP, gets good grades, and doesn't get into trouble at all.

Yeah except the people who try with IVF usually have the means and really want the child. The people popping babies naturally aren't necessarily the people you want to be reproducing

Uh, how is that controversial? People with autism struggle to get through life. Wouldn't it be nice if they didn't have to?

It’s very controversial these days actually. I have lots of friends who would shun me if they knew I held that opinion.

NP. I'm sorry about the bold, PP. I agree with you, FWIW. But there is a cultural current running toward "This is wonderful neurodivergence and you must not merely accept it, you MUST embrace it as a positive." For some individuals? Sure, absolutely. They "think differently" and that works for them in their lives and careers and relationships. For many others? Nope, not a positive at all. But one doesn't dare say that out loud in many circles.

Good luck with that. 1% of men have a penis between 7–8 inches. I'll wager that when self-reporting, the percentage who claim that size is much higher but it's not the reality.

I was spoiled by my college bf who was packing and hot. Now I'm with my not so big overweight DH and I fantasize about him and his abs.
