Oops! Looks like I responded to this thread last year and forgot. |
Villaroy and Boch my mother gave me. I used it every day. Solid china and it can go pretty much everywhere: dishwasher and microwave! I will use it until it is all broken. That said, I actually haven't broken anything! |
I have my grandmother's Spode Cowslip from the 1940's. I used to not really care about it, but now I think it's pretty. And I miss her, so it's a nice memory. |
My daily set is Royal Copenhagen Curved Blue Flowers. Discontinued now.
Special occasionis my collection of Hermes Mosaique au 24. |
Kate Spade June Lane Platinum and Spode Woodlands for Thanksgiving. |
Of course you just so superior with your ugly compostable brown paper plates. |
i have the same set that has been in my DHs family since the late 19th century. i have no idea the brand. We use it on holidays and whenever i make a particularly nice dinner. We also have a set of real silver from his family and bust that out only on holidays and very very special events. Mainly because the silver needs polishing before use. That’s annoying. |
i’m 37, but OK? Tell me you’re immature without telling me you're immature. |
I don’t have china yet but my parents have two sets (also three sets of silver) that they inherited from their parents so I expect if I wanted one I’d get upon asking. My oldest sister already took a set of silver to make her holiday tables look nice. My kids are really little so I still IKEA-by-way-of-thrift-store plates and such but growing up we used the nice china for any fancy holiday meal — Christmas, Easter, weddings, sometimes formal dinner parties if my mother was really into it. |
Growing up, we just had one Corelle plate that was our “microwave plate,” so I associate the name with smelly Saran Wrap and meh takeout leftovers |
For the second or third Christmas season, I’m leaving boxes of Spode Christmas china in my storage room. I just don’t like it’s worth the effort to get out holiday china for one brief season. The set was given to me mostly by ILs - piece by piece over years.
I also have wedding china that is stored, unused in a kitchen cabinet. It’s very pretty, plain Royal Doulton Alice. Thinking of donating Spode Christmas after this season. Takes up 2 large shelves in my tiny storage room. |
lol, same, we had a Corelle “microwave bowl.” Thanks for the memory! |
I love it too! |
My mom’s china is white on white embossed floral with a gold rim. We have matching gold plated flatware. I love the white on white! She uses colored chargers for holidays. |
I think my family set is Meissen too! I love it. We wash ours in the dishwasher and it does fine! |
