None of that addresses limits on the cars themselves. Height, weight, engine power. All those things make curbs and such less meaningful. |
Where did you see anyone say "let them drive?" |
Not all towns have the number of Uber drivers that the DMV does. Absolutely impossible to rely on Uber in my second home. |
They didn't have to. |
ANY car can jump a curb, which is exactly the problem. It is not the cars driving themselves - it is the elderly drivers who should not be driving, who are the issue. There is a PP that thinks her being obtuse wins her argument. Clearly, it does not. |
Maybe the adult child should face charges for allowing their impaired parent to drive. |
So avoidable. No family should have to go through this. Until you are hit by an elderly driver, you have no idea. Awful. |
Children have no legal authority over their parents |
You know smaller engine vehicles still weigh roughly a ton, right? Did you ever take a basic physics course in your life? Never mind, we know the answer. Holy crap. Talk about denial. |
Maybe someone should pass a law. |
And that the driver is old. Very important piece of information. |
Interesting that the news articles state it was an elderly man, but the MPD press release says nothing. Wonder who that driver knows on the DC Council. |
No cabs in my hometown either, and honestly, I've taken Uber from my parents' house and it was pretty sketchy. Uber is not the same everywhere. We need a vetted Driving Ms. Daisy system. |
And who gets in trouble when the elderly person has no children or no living children? Or are we only going to punish families? |
Are you under the impression that driver's licenses are regulated at the national level? |
