I can’t figure out what he was trying to do. I think Iyanna is correct, that he needs psychological help. No other explanation. Very strange behavior. Everyone was cringing when he was hitting on Vanessa.

I was laughing when Nick and Vanessa chastised him for being shallow. As if Nick didn’t want Vanessa primarily for her looks, gmab.

Vanessa is gorgeous (as is Nick), and I’m sure they were mutually attracted to each other. But that’s not the point. They didn’t go on a show about falling in love without seeing the person. And they didn’t disrespect their fiancée on television. Shake is a narcissist and quite likely mentally unbalanced. Nick and a Vanessa are just the hosts of the show, not participants on the experiment.

Wow! Just when you thought Shake couldn't possibly be bigger POS. The guy completely lacks any self-awareness. He's disgusting.

+1 I wish someone had asked him how his dinner at Nobu was!

He said he only really likes blonde white girls in their very first meeting, which should have been a HUGE red flag to Deepti. She should have told him to go find a blonde to fetishize somewhere else and walked right then. It's mind-boggling to me that she didn't.

But it's not a HUGE red flag that Deepti has only ever dated blonde white men, which is what she told him? Double standard much?

But she grew on the show around this issue. Shake said all Indian women remind him if his relatives so he cannot think of them sexually!

Is that supposed to portray agreeableness or being pleasant? They must suppress so much!

It's cultural.

Interesting, thanks for that. Did you find a dissertation about the hmmm sound repeatedly made when someone else is talking ;which seems to show they are listening??)

I still dislike Shayne, but at the very least he’s surprisingly self-aware. He admitted to being a drama queen and owned the fact that he overreacts. He still requires so much validation (which would annoy the hell out of me in a partner), but at least he knows that about himself. That’s something. But dude truly needs to start wearing socks and clothes that fit.

Shake…ugh…he would NOT shut up. Talk about liking drama. He wanted to be in every conversation. Shake, no one cares about every thought in your head. It’s not always about you! Iyanna was absolutely right that he’s a narcissist.

Kyle trying to smooth-talk Deepti was awkward as hell. Read the room, Kyle. She wasn’t into it!

Shayna’s squinty eyes are a meme. Lordy she’s annoying. Of course she was playing Kyle, lol. Shayne wanted to crawl under a table and hide every time she spoke.

I agree Shake is a narcissist, and absolutely should have made an effort to be kind, but fundamentally I don’t have a problem with the fact that the experiment didn’t work for him. Who hasn’t dated someone they really liked as a person but the attraction wasn’t there?

I posted that because it's easier than explaining it. I grew up in Japan and didn't think I could articulate it very well and didn't want to spend a lot of time and energy on writing a mini thesis...and lo and behold it took about 5 secs to find one.

Japanese also make this odd sucking/hissing sound when annoyed. Sort of air pulled in through the teeth. They wont' contradict you, but you will go around in circles in a discussion until you want to stab yourself.

Mall is so pretty but I wanted to rip that stupid forever 21 necklace off her neck. And her constant potty mouth is irritating.

Potty mouth? lol - are you under the impression she’s a child?

I don’t either, but agree with the other cast members that it’s what he said and the way he said it. It was mean, and apparently we got the clean version! Whatever he was saying to people was worse than they showed us. That’s just not right. He could’ve and should’ve broke it off earlier. He stayed and faked a lot because he wanted to stay on camera, which he basically admitted to in the reunion when he told Shaina she probably said yes to Kyle just to stay on the show.

Was anyone else kind of skeeved out by Iyana's "parents?"

I can't remember the specifics but didn't she say that they adopted her pretty recently, like around age 22? I find it weird that they focus so much on using the term parents. And her dad was talking about children growing up. I mean I know they were her godparents but it all seemed just really a bit much. Like their need to constantly use language about being her parents.

I helped a former friend who is a single mom raise her daughter. I'm not even her godparent, but her godparent lives a plane ride away. I went to back to school nights, bought school supplies, helped with homework, packed lunches, took/picked up from school, went to parent/teacher conferences, bought clothes, helped her clean her bedroom, dropped off/picked up at friend's houses and birthday parties, paid for and organized birthday parties, sent her to camp, taught her to do laundry, cook, gave her allowance, went to doctor's appointments, paid for braces, take her to dentist and ortho, etc. So no, I'm not the parent OR godparent, but her mom is raging alcoholic narcissist and she's needed help. She's 19 now and I still pay for her dental appointments and take her grocery shopping.

Yes, absolutely it was his callous manner of speaking that was the issue. And he took zero responsibility for how insulting and hurtful his words were. That’s what makes him scum.
