That coffee shop over by the exorcist stairs (early 90s)

I’m nearly 50 and have great memories of both places.

Sigh.

Quiet exterior, might have been a small but very upscale hotel. Anyway, the brunch was unexpectedly very elaborate and luxurious, and amazing. Buffet style with waiters pouring champagne at your table. My friend took me there and treated me to the expensive brunch, which was very nice of him. We used to take turns treating each other to restaurant meals, and it was his turn. I cannot remember the name of the restaurant or the hotel where it was located. Anyone?

Could it have been Chadwick’s?

The name rings a bell, but I think I found the place. It was likely the Lantham Hotel. I found it after someone on DCUM mentioned Jose Andres bought the old Lantham Hotel in Georgetown. I looked it up, and I think that might be it.

Incidentally, I looked up Chadwick's. There's a spy scandal associated with that restaurant. There was a spy story associated with Au Pied de Cochon in the 80's also.

There was a clothing store that closed in the early 90s. I can’t remember the name and it’s driving me crazy.

It’s similar to Up Against the Wall in that it was extremely hip, not just trendy. It’s not Commander Salamander. The name sounds like Boogie Nights, but it’s obviously not that.

Is there a way to see a list of stores from the early 90s?

I was going to post this. I was nerdy and my best friend was punk and had part hot pink hair and we used to love to go there to shop for Dock Martins and T-shirts. All the guys with Mohawks used to hit on her and seemed confused by my presence .

Anyone remember (and can add to the list)

- Au Pied de Cochon?
