They meet at some time in March to do the selection, then parents are notified in April. |
"You will be notified of the selection committee’s decision by the middle of April." ---the questions was "when the local school submits the AAP package to the Central Selection Committee and when parents can request a copy of the package?" |

Second grade NNAT 137 COGAT 120. Highest in Quant 125 In pool. Been in AAP Level 2 since kindergarten Not sure what chances the kid has to make it to AAP. Anyone who se kid got in with these scores? |
| No offence but the cut off goes down to 120 in some schools? Dang |
If you're in-pool at your school, probably a good chance. And yes, many kids (historically) get in with scores in 120's. |
|
| This year I’m sure there will be lot of anxious parents waiting for results in April. |
|
Even we think the kid was in pool because of being in AAP2 and decent NNAT score. Fingers crossed for the final result but no worries either way.
|
Why would you assume this? The PP’s DC scored a 137 on the NNAT. No one has said the NNAT is not being used this year to determine pool status, nor have they said that only the composite CogAt will be used. |
|
This is new now…NNAT was assumed not to be used thus year to determine in pool status. I think lot of people posted their scores where NNAT was more than 132, but the child was not in pool due to less than 140 (new cutoff?) cogat composite.
Whatever the case, people on this forum, please don’t be rude or unkind to anyone who is in pool with less scores. May be there school has a different approach. |
We should also appreciate parents who shared the scores. Very helpful. |
+1 |
I've seen all the scores posted here and there hasn't been anyone with an NNAT over 140 and a CogAT under 140 who said they were not in pool. It looks to me like most higher-SES schools are using a cut-off around 139 or 140 where either the CogAT or NNAT could put you in. Not clear at this point if they're allowing any single CogAT sub-section or only the composite. So far the only examples where the cut-off appears a bit lower are West Springfield pyramid (highest individual score of 134--CogAT Q) and South Lakes (highest individual score of 137--NNAT). |
|
Thanks for the clarification. It’s all speculation since we don’t know what criteria they are following.
1. Either NNAT or Cogat above 140 2. Only Cogat considered, above 140. Different schools have different cutoffs. 1. High SES schools cut off 140 2. Low SES schools cut of 132 or 120? Not sure |
Correct. All a guessing game at this point but the data points others have shared are very helpful. The more scores posted the better sense we'll have. |
