Advanced Academic Programs (AAP)
It’s a school that serves the county. It serves the whole population. Not a subset. |
Looks like you have very good experience with those within your racist family. |
I wouldn't call them non-STEM kids - I would call them STEM-plus kids. Kids who have a high aptitude for STEM but who also have other talents, interests, and passions that make them appealing to college admissions officers. |
Isn't that how race quota and racism is defined though? |
No. It’s a school quota. Race isn’t involved. For the first time, TJ has representation from across the entire county (and beyond). |
Yes, it is, just not explicitly. |
It's not FCPS's fault that certain subsets of the Asian population have chosen to segregate themselves into extremely concentrated areas. And there are other racial groups that have done the same thing in other enclaves around Northern Virginia. |
What a shameless statement! The true color of racist liberals! |
..... Precisely what do you take issue with? |
Race is one measure of how effectively TJ is serving the entire community. Along with gender, economic factors, etc. There is no race quota. |
This is actually really important. For the first time in recent memory, the female population at TJ cracked the 45% threshold, despite the split in the application pool being nearly 50-50 on a yearly basis. |
Yup. 50 more girls than the prior class. (Going from 42% to 46%) And only 15 private school kids admitted. Way down from 51 the previous year. (Going from 10% to 3%) |
Unfortunately, how to measure the effectiveness isn't dictated by you. We'll see what happens. |
Private school kids definitely took it on the chin, mostly because of allocated seats but also because of experience factors. The good news is, most private school families have resources to obtain an exceptional education on their own, as there are no end of outstanding private schools in the DMV area. |
The best measurement is what % of middle schools were represented. 100%. Major improvement. |
