Clever.
I will add: "Columbia and UChicago are better than Stanford, MIT and Yale"

Columbia is #2 according to USNews. You may not agree with US News. It shows reasonable minds see Columbia as #2.

Columbia is a safety to HYP…stop kidding yourselves

Princeton is a safety to Yale, Yale is a safety to Harvard. I don’t see what’s so different between Columbia and HYP.

There is no significant difference, and it's really silly to call any of these schools safeties. There are plenty of reasons to choose Columbia (or Dartmouth, or even Brown) over any of the HYP schools, and to pretend otherwise is ridiculous.

But this thread is about finance placement. It doesn't matter how many kids Columbia sends to IB analyst roles each year, a similar kid at Harvard (or Wharton) will have more opportunities than one at Columbia. Hell, these days I might even add Stanford to this list since they have some West Coast buyside options that don't really exist for the usual east coast undergrad target schools.

Most of the finance 'superstars' typically come out from Harvard or Wharton.

Something about the combination of Manhattan/NYC and Ivy results in a very powerful brand. And I've always felt Columbia was always much closer to HYP than the rest of the Ivies.

I take it you're reasonably young?

Columbia's rise has more to do with the resurgence of NYC itself in the post-Giuliani era than anything else. The Felicity effect is very strong lol.

I agree with PP. Columbia has always been a serious play producing grads who accomplish serious goals in life. Princeton, until very recently, has been an old boys club. Alumni kids coming from the right prep schools and then getting jobs from daddy's friends.

Princeton has net been like that for forty years but continue the bitterness

Columbia is USNews #2 for compelling reasons. US News follows, not lead, the consensus. Can you imagine US News ranking Harvard or Columbia outside T10? No one will buy US News. The consensus is Harvard - and Columbia - should be near the top. So, plenty of reasonable minds in the US think Columbia took its rightful place as #2.

So, why all the bickering in dCUM? DCUM is a DMV regional website. Virginia just elected Glen Younkin who ran against teaching CRT in virginal public schools. CRT is NOT taught in Virginia public schools. This election was all about racial pandering to racial fears. I suspect Columbia scares DMV people. Columbia was the only ivy that didn’t discriminate against Jews in 1930’s. It’s one of the most diverse ivies. In short, it’s not WASP. It’s not DMV.

WSJ is the consensus of WSJ readership. It’s behind the paywall. It’s the consensus of the few and far between, those few who are willing to pay for something that is free. It’s not the consensus of people like me and you.

Specious arguments abound.
Please cut out the political rhetoric and stick with relevant and current facts.
What is the relevance of policies from 90 years ago on 2021 rankings? None.
You seem to imply that if someone disputes Columbia's ranking then they are anti-Semitic, racist and/or alt-right.
Just please stop with this crap.

Oh, you are gonna tell me the best man won in Virginia - that it’s not race politics, or politics period. Yongkin is the best possible politician for Virginia, the same way trump was the best man for the job when he ran for president.
