That's a pretty easy thing to say when she doesn't have to come up with an alternative. Most of the budget is teachers. You either need to cut the number of teachers or cut the salaries/benefits of teachers.

Laura Stewart is in the pocket of the teachers union. The last thing she’s going to do is advocate for changes to their salary/health benefits or suggest layoffs.

Right, but that's going to get a lot harder if she makes it on the Board.

Making anything meaningful happen is going to be a lot harder if Shebra Evans keeps her seat, instead.

No matter how bad things are, they can always get worse. I'm definitely voting for Evans over Stewart, but I'm not happy about it.
This.

The anti-stewart troll just won't let it go. I was undecided before, but definitely voting for Stewart now.

MCEA already has plenty of seats on the Board. We need someone that will put the needs of students first.

Everyone left in the race has courted MCEA. They abandoned Evans after her first term because it was clear that she had one agenda item she cared about, and left the rest to rot. Her base, and a weak opponent, kept her in last time.

Hence the need to choose the least bad option, accepting that there is no good option.

Given where Evans has taken us during her time on the BOE, what Stewart has advocated for in public testimonies during that same time and that all of the substantive chatter here against Stewart pretty much applies to Evans as well, it's pretty clear that that Evans is the most bad option.

Exactly! Voting for Steward. Just can't support incumbents!

I’m pretty sure Laura Stewart is the only candidate who turned her twitter profile - the one she used for years to publicly advocate for issues - to private to hide her former positions from the public. She’s running a campaign of “Vote for me because I’m not Shebra Evans” with little substance behind it. It will likely get her into the Board but once she’s there I’m afraid she’ll get steamrolled by MCPS staff and the teachers union.

So a typical US election?

That's such a bad look. How does any take her seriously?

If you think that’s bad, take a look at some of the candidate forums Stewart has participated in. Seems like if she’s not reading prepared remarks like she did when she testified to the BOE on behalf of the PTAs, she struggles to put much of a substantive thought together.

No.but try asking on another thread, as that's not related to BOE candidates.

We got a new Superintendent! Now let’s replace the BOE! The incumbents have got to go!

What will the next BOE be able to accomplish with new Super but if no changes at CO?

There have been many changes at CO already. And I'm sure there are still more to come.
