I’ve never seen the Queen booed ever. Let alone by a crowd.

There have been like a half dozen assassination attempts on her, I am sure booing by an activist group is nothing new. It’s the price of power.

Are you including the nut who showed up in her bedroom at midnight in your ‘assassination’ attempts?

Either way those activists have a huge amount of support in nationalist Scotland.

That’s been the case for five decades. Then they grow into middle age and schlep their two kids and dog to visit Balmoral and learn some history. Some have the misfortune, like Sturgeon, of having to bow to the Queen repeatedly.

Two decades you say? No wonder the boos are getting more bold.

There will be a beautiful show next year with heads of states from around the world vying to bow to her. Enjoy the broadcast and keep calm!

Don't get too cocky. I believe you were planning to celebrate someone's 100th birthday in style this year as well.

The man lived to 99 and made sure to take out the trash before he left. Lay off the burritos darling, the show will go on for decades.

+1. You can't underestimate the impact of major economic disruption on public opinion, especially when there is a long unhappy history that had been smoothed over with mutually beneficial economic arrangements.

Yep. The rota is doing everything possible to not bring up the $600 million renovation for Buckingham Palace that started last year as well. And the Royal Family account hasn't posted about it since 2019. Wonder why? Couldn't be the UK on a downswing thanks to economic 'disruption'...

Buckingham Palace is a National Heritage site you twat, it ‘s renovated and preserved for the benefit of generations of Britons and people from around the world. Only ignorant Americans so freely comment on things they have no understanding of.

So is Westminister Palace, yet the MPs smartly scrapped that refurb.

Er, it's the very vocal Brits who seem upset with the renovation and are drawing comparisons. Explain to me again why you, as an American-hating Brit, are on DCUM again?

Er no, it’s not the very vocal Brits, it’s a delusional American that scours Twitterverse and regales us with obscure Twitts (4 pages and counting).

Here are some facts. The Queen has an 80% approval rating, the highest in the world for a leader. Scotland had its say just 7 short years ago, and per polls the answer is still the same. The decade long restoration of Buckingham Palace was signed off by the elected Prime Minister of England. It’s a National Heritage site, an administrative site, and a museum open to the public - it will be restored and maintained no matter who resides in it.

More facts. The Queen is 95 and dead within 5-7 years. Her son has the worst approval rating in the history of modern future monarchs and certainly among world leaders not named Trump. Scotland has already asked for a new referendum within a year because they did not agree to Brexit, which you guessed it - was unilaterally forced on them in the last 7 years. As for Buckingham Palace being a National Heritage site, sure. It's also the primary home of the monarch and their 52-room living quarters. Very little of Buckingham Palace is open to the public and only for a short 3.5 month period every year.

In fact, because of the pandemic and the loss of revenue the Queen was forced to open its gardens to ticketed patrons for the first time in history in 2020.

She's raising the heir to the throne.

Diana didn't really even try to do that job. Will knows that firsthand, and he wants Kate to actually be a mother.

The current Queen certainly didn't mother her children...and let's just say that didn't end well.

Kate works enough. As we emerge from the pandemic in a year and her kids are little older, I'm sure we will see more of Kate.

Plus, I'm sure there is a bit of a sensitivity with Will not wanting his more interesting young family to outshine his father--who has preparing his entire life for a job he hasn't actually gotten yet. My sense is Will and Charles are a bit of team: let Dad have his time, do what he's asked, and enjoy his family while he can.

What will the excuse be when this loving super mom ships her preteens off to boarding school?

Are you a raging misogynist or something? What is your deal with obsessing over Kate's work schedule? Or are you one of the harpies who participates in all the SAHM vs WOHM debates on here who just can't abide by the fact that people's lives are different? In the real world, nobody cares much about how Kate spends her time.

Wow. I like Kate and am delighted to see her becoming more confident and glamorous, but that article is embarrassingly pathetic and desperate-sounding. Yikes. With friends like those....

It sounds like the Cambridge version of Omid Scobie.

It achieved what it was meant to, a rallying support by the public around the duchess

It could have been so much more effective. The premise of the article was that Kate's bigger, more glamorous role is going save the monarchy, which has a problem with younger and more diverse Britons. But, the article pitted Kate and Meghan against each other and trashed Meghan, effectively turning off anyone who likes Meghan (the younger, more diverse Britons the BRF is trying to woo).

I guess the misstep is not surprising, since monarchists don't appreciate democracy, but they're effectively making people choose between Kate and Meghan, and elections are a matter of addition and subtraction. Whatever success they have with this strategy is being diminished by subtracting Meghan's admirers from the equation altogether.

It's just so stupid.

This is just Daily Mail clickbait.

Kate Middleton has been a fashion icon since she burst into the scene. Her engagement dress sold out within hours, as have all the more affordable outfits she has worn. Websites have crashed with young women rushing to buy her looks. She basically has resorted to buying clothes and wearing them a year later to avoid being seen as merching. The designer looks she wears are copied by high street brands. Copies of her wedding dress (the reception look) were everywhere, including on Meghan during her first wedding.

She was one of the first high profile women to wear inexpensive clothing and jewelry to official appearances. She was ahead of the curve and championed the slow fashion movement by repeat wearing and recycling a lot of her clothes. She has never been bold or daring, I am going to guess this was by design, but she has always looked effortlessly elegant.

A beautiful woman? Yes. Fashion icon? Absolutely not. You will be hard pressed to find her on any best-dressed lists. Just because some other basics bought the same clothes doesn’t mean anything at all.

DP - it’s a raging misogynist to ask what she does all day?

The Queen of the Netherlands leads IMF negotiations.

The Queen of Jordan chairs the World Humanitarian Forum summit.

The Queen of Spain is a United Nations Ambassador.

All of this on top of their extraordinarily busy engagement schedules within their respective countries. And being mothers.

What does Kate DO all day?

Do you need to be Queen to have a passion for something? Anything? And as Queens their schedules are actually more demanding not less than when they were all just waiting in the wings.

Your “passion” is obvious. No shit their schedules are more demanding as queen. But Kate is two steps away from queen. There is something seriously weong with you. Go rail on Camilla if you want to get closer to apples to apples.
